If not, then yeah, he's blowing it on purpose. Or it is the beginning of something along the lines of a Reagan-esque story. Without the actual 'being president' part.

Democrats think W is the dumb one, but W was great for the big money on the GOP side. Also, that "lesser evil" and "nostalgia" stuff will be used by both sides. We are not the audience for "W". I believe my liberal, Bernie-supporting sister's conservative Air Force Vietnam veteran husband would vote for W again. I think he would be swayed by W to vote for Jeb!, while Bill could appear in my sister's and my front yards, daily, and we would still vote for Bernie. It is all a crap shoot.

I do not think the GOP electorate really thinks W was a disaster. I really don't.

I hope they do bring him back, though because if they do, we we dems will win going away.

They have successfully blamed all of that on Democrats. The Kochs got their money's worth on propaganda, like it or not. And other GOP voters, I believe would sit the election out, rather than vote for Hillary.

Who cares if they don't vote for Hillary. They are never going to vote for Hillary anyway.

That's what the "get out the vote" drive is all about.

Democrats outnumber repugs and Dems turn out big in presidential election cycles.

They can vote for Trump, Cruz, Jeb, or whoever, just as they did for Romney and Mccain and we know what happened there.

We certainly don't depend on repug votes to win elections.

Of those who responded to Jeb's poll at the family Christmas dinner, nearly three out of four Bush clan members said W could sit at the big boy table. That is, if you count Barb Sr. snarling, "Shut up, Jeb!" as a positive comment in favor of W, and Jeb surely does.

Imagining that scene so makes me wish we had something like the U.K.'s renowned former puppet satire show, The Spitting Image, here in the U.S. today.

Then again something like that would step on too many big, big toes - and that, to paraphrase Poppy Bush, wouldn't be prudent.

be to not realize that your name is a huge liability when your brother drove the economy into the ground and presided over a clusterfuck of a war based on lies? What Democrat would vote for any member of the Bush family in the general? And the kicker is he isn't extreme enough for the Repuke base.

45. GWB remains very popular with the Republican base.
Wed Jan 6, 2016, 07:52 PM

A Bloomberg Politics national poll taken in November shows that the popularity of former President George W. Bush, a record-low when he left office in 2009, remains underwater with the public at large: He got a 45 percent favorable to 50 percent unfavorable rating. But when only Republicans are asked, the picture is starkly different: 77 percent of members of his own party give the former president a favorable rating, making him the most popular Republican in the survey.

We are in the primary season and if Jeb can't win some primaries he is finished. So if his brother can help with the Republican base then that might be a smart move.

Of course the general election is another matter. I don't see GWB doing any campaigning during the general election campaign. And would his campaigning during the primary season turn off some general election voters? Yes it might but Jeb has to take that chance since he needs to get nominated first before he can even run in the general election campaign.
