those people criticizing it the loudest are probably the people that shouldn't own guns in the first place!
I know many gun owners and not one of them has an issue with what Obama signed other than 'About F***ing Time'. Law abiding citizens have nothing to worry about these laws.
But the Ammosexuals out there, perhaps they are complaining for a reason.....

(39,171 posts)I have never understood this fear by some gun owners that Obama wants to take away their guns or impose draconian gun control measures. Too many people ignorant of history I guess.

Hell, no I'm not keen on executive orders. I'm afraid the whole concept is going to bite us in the butt someday.

And, honestly, I manage just fine, even in the 'burbs, since my 'burb is one of the most multi-cultural counties in the country and very welcoming. I love it, here. It's just going to take a while to turn blue.

There is no constitutional provision nor statute that explicitly permits executive orders. The term executive power Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution, refers to the title of President as the executive. He is instructed therein by the declaration "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed" made in Article II, Section 3, Clause 5 or face impeachment. Most executive orders use these Constitutional reasonings as the authorization allowing for their issuance to be justified as part of the President's sworn duties,[2] the intent being to help direct officers of the U.S. Executive carry out their delegated duties as well as the normal operations of the federal government: the consequence of failing to comply possibly being the removal from office.

(3,212 posts)and most Americans were blissfully unaware of the individual orders because they weren't personally affected by them.
Once the idea that a president can issue executive orders for just about anything - what next? Someone dies in an abortion clinic, so the next fundie president will regulate abortion clinics with all sorts of archaic rules? After all, abortions will still be legal....

(34,163 posts)Essentially, Obama supported the status quo with requests for resources and improved processes.
Nothing substantively new was recommended.
Those who are cheering the Executive Actions will be sorely disappointed to find that the so-called "gun show loophole" is not closed -- not even a little.
Those who are screaming tyranny about the Executive Actions will be chagrin when they realize the NRA has asked to enforce the existing laws.
