The Blue Tarp Guy in Oregon Reminds Me of My Cat.

She's young, just about 9 months old. She believes that if she cannot see me, I obviously cannot see her. For example, she'll crawl under the slip cover on my sofa, which is there to keep the massive amounts of fur shed by our Beagle Basset mix off the couch. Once under there, she cannot see us or anything else in the room. The cover is opaque. I checked.

She thinks she's invisible. And yet, a suspicious moving lump reveals her exact location. I sometimes poke her with my finger through the slip cover. When that happens, she scrambles out from under and looks at me in a puzzled way, as if to say, "How did you know I was there?"

The guy under the blue tarp appears to have about the same intelligence level as my cat. Maybe someone should poke at him and see what he does. The difference, though, is that my cat will learn that she is not really invisible. I don't hold out much hope for the moran under that tarp in that regard. He already looks like an adult human, so he has probably reached the full extent of the consciousness of which he is capable.

POKE! POKE!

a yellow lab, was like that. When she called him in at night during the summer she didn't know where he was because of all the leaves on the trees. During the winter when she called, she could see him because the leaves were gone. She could see him ignoring her! He was a sweet fella and didn't walk around with weapons.
