How Could I Say No? dog rescue by Rachel Rentz, GA

Growing up in my family we always had pets. I love animals, so when my husband finally agreed( i might have finally wore him down!) to get a dog i spent the entire evening trolling through animal rescue sites and humane society web sites looking for "my dog". I finally settled on a few at my local shelter. So with their profiles in hand my husband and i went down to look. We had a few meet and greets with a few dogs but something or another didn't jibe, feeling dejected we went to leave, when my husband walked by a cage and this sad little dog sat down and put her paw up in a gesture to my husband. What was odd was i never noticed her profile on the web site, apparently she had been returned twice already. Things didn't look good for her. But as i looked into those beautiful brown eyes i was totally smitten. She was underweight and has scars from being used as a bait dog, had hot spots all over her body and we had to remove 2 teeth due to the abuse she endured. The day was Sept 16, 2012. She was a year old according to our vet. These past 3 year have been amazing with her. Her name is Lacey by the way and it was my husband who named her. She is adorable and comical has loads of personality and loves loves loves her belly rubs. I know now i was meant to go that day but not for the dogs i had seen but to find her, she was waiting for us.
