Trump complains NFL players have become "soft, like our country..."

Donald Trump may be the only person in America, outside of the residents of Cincinnati and Minneapolis, who has watched these NFL playoffs and doesn't like what he sees.

“Football has become soft like our country has become soft,” the GOP presidential frontrunner told a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada on Sunday. "We're going soft, just like the NFL, we're going soft."

Perhaps Trump didn't see the plays in which Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown and Cincinnati's Giovanni Bernard were apparently knocked unconscious by hits to the head, their limbs flailing as they dropped to the turf like sacks of dropped dog food.

So the hit to the head is supposed to not have any effects if you are a real macho man?

Trump has obviously been hit in the head in the past.

spoiled brat, born with a silver spoon in his whiny cry baby mouth. The prick complains about everything and if he don't get his way he throws a tantrum. His facial expressions are childish. He is soft as his silk socks. I would wager he could not do 5 push-ups. You are never going to run this country because you are a loser.

to fight suspensions for these head hunting hits. It is its own members that are being injured in the most unimaginable way. Beckham's one game for after the whistle head shot???? I was shocked that the Steelers receiver walked off the field after this latest hit. If it is not at least four games then the league punishment is a joke. Beckham should have been for four games at least as well.

When someone is crippled or paralyzed by one of these shots, I suspect the NFL will be looking at a seven or eight figure pay out. They are obviously not taking this seriously.

The problem is that the individuals have gotten too large and too fast. Also the introduction of the modern helmets and pads has not helped.

These type of hits have always been part of the game. Here is a Youtube video showing some of the hits. I don't know how many drew flags. Somee of the most vicious are obviously from 30 or 40 years ago.

He said this on Sunday, so he's either talking about that game, or the Chiefs and Texans. Here's what he said:

“It’s a Sunday, who the hell wants to watch these crummy games? I just want to watch the end. ... What I just said about a game — so I’m watching a game yesterday. What used to be considered a great tackle, a violent head-on (tackle), a violent — if that was done by Dick Butkus, they’d say he’s the greatest player. If that were done by Lawrence Taylor — it was done by Lawrence Taylor and Dick Butkus and Ray Nitschke, right? Ray Nitschke — you used to see these tackles and it was incredible to watch, right?

“Now they tackle. ‘Oh, head-on-head collision, 15 yards.’ The whole game is all screwed up. You say, ‘Wow, what a tackle.’ Bing. Flag. Football has become soft. Football has become soft. Now, I’ll be criticized for that. They’ll say, ‘Oh, isn’t that terrible.’ But football has become soft like our country has become soft. (Applause) It’s true. It’s true. The outcome of games has been changed by what used to be phenomenal, phenomenal stuff. Now these are rough guys, these are rough guys. These guys — what they’re doing is incredible, but I looked at it and I watched yesterday in particular. So many flags, right? So many flags. And I could imagine a guy like Lawrence Taylor and Dick Butkus, who was really rough, and some of these guys sitting there watching. ‘Wow, what a beautiful tackle.’ ‘Fifteen yards! That’s — the game is over.’ You can’t kick a field goal any more.”
...
“It’s become weak and you know what? It’s going to affect the NFL. I don’t even watch it as much anymore. It’s going to affect the NFL. I don’t watch it. The referees, they want to all throw flags so their wives see them at home. ‘Oh, there’s my husband.’ [Laughter] It’s true. ‘He just broke up — he just gave a 15-yard penalty on one of the most beautiful tackles made this year.’ Right?

“It’s boring — although I love Tom Brady. I gotta tell you. I do love Tom. He’s a great guy. But it’s different. But it’s become soft and our country has become soft.”

He wants to get out of the race, so he keeps trying to come up with absurd comments that will finally alienate people who support him., like:

The NFL has gotten too soft, and
Ya gotta admire the North Korean dictator...
