Who said the stupidest thing during the Republican Debate?

Mine has to be this gem from Dr. Ben Carson:

“They hit us with this exo-atmospheric nuclear bomb, which creates an electromagnetic pulse then they simultaneously launch cyber-attacks against our electrical grid, and they use dirty bombs. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue?”

Wow just wow. This is wrong on so many levels it actually made me laugh at its sheer stupidity.

so i guess he thinks ISIS has a nuclear bomb, and for some reason thinks that they would blow it up in the atmosphere to create an EMP, instead of, you know, hitting a major city and killing a shit-ton of people

Putting the special ops people in there is better than not having them there because they — that’s why they’re called special ops. They’re actually able to guide some of the other things that we’re doing there, and what we have to recognize is that Putin is trying to really spread his influence throughout the Middle East.

This is going to be his base and we have to oppose him there and in an effective way. We also must recognize it’s a very complex place. You know the Chinese are there as well as the Russians, and you have all kinds of factions there. What we’ve been doing so far is very ineffective.

But we can’t give up ground right there. But we have to look at this on a much more global scale. We’re talking about global jihadists, and their desire is to destroy us and to destroy our way of life. So we have to be saying, how do we make them look like losers? That’s the way they’re able to gather a lot of influence, and I think in order to make them look like losers, we have to destroy their caliphate. And you look for the easiest place to do that. It would be in Iraq, outside of Anbar. In Iraq there’s a big energy field. Take that from them, take all of that land from them. We could do that, i believe, fairly easily, I’ve learned from talking to several generals, and you move on from there, but you have to continue to face them because our goal is not to contain them but to destroy them before they destroy us.

The dishonesty pours out of them all like blood from a zombie's eyes. More frightening than the candidates (or the moderators who are also in on the ruse) is the audience that accepts and applauds this grotesquerie.

The two things that stood out to me were:

1. Ben Carson jumping into the conversation to say only that some credible people had looked over his plan and said it was the best of everyone's. There was no follow-up or explanation. I forget what the plan was about...

2. Ted Cruz's long stream of consciousness answer about trade and tariffs with China that wandered into abolishing the IRS, the death tax, Obamacare taxes, etc.

There were probably crazier things said, but those were the most memorable.

Umm... WTF?

And Christie was especially nasty tonight. He projected all evening. Examples:

1) Calling Pres. Obama a "petulant child," when he's the one who acts like a child most of the time.

2) Suggesting that Hillary would cause war... Umm, all evening he bragged about the different wars he'd instigate--including escalating the latest Iran thing into a full scale war/response.

Carly Fiorina has just fired off another round of harsh criticism, comparing Hillary Clinton to ‘El Chapo’, the infamous Mexican drug lord who has escaped from prison multiple times.
