I think we are up to 100 turtles.

I get house guests to make turtles to leave behind. We have a craft day, they make turtles, I add them to the collection.

Surprising how much fun adults can have making turtles. They giggle, curse, take a few pain pills....and we get rather interesting turtles.

is to have people who don't agree with you to listen and consider your ideas. Think of a litigator trying to convince a jury to see his side in a case. I speak to top litigators all the time and the way they use language is very good and very persuasive. West only communicates with people who agree with him.

control the thought process of the jury, the objective is very much not to encourage the jury to think for themselves but to encourage them to think as you want them to think. A closer in sales or law or any other context discourages consideration of fact counter to the desired conclusion.
A person like West is encouraging people to think for themselves, and like other teachers and artists and unlike salespeople or litigators people who seek to encourage thought in their listeners do not seek to persuade to conclusions but to motivate the use of reason as a habitual approach to information being presented.
Those who seek to force agreement with their point of view have an entirely different objective from those who seek to prompt you to think about your own point of view more completely.

Offering the language of a litigator as example of how a teacher should speak is just a big mistake. To my way of thinking it is a profoundly large mistake.

he turns off of 70% of the populous. If he really wants to seek to influence people then he figures out the best way to get to the most people. His schtick is old and tiresome and 70% of the people are turned off by his appearance and his way of communicating. that is why he is a bad communicator.

As he was on Bill Maher's show on HBO last night, I'm confident that is what we are speaking about. That is a distinct context from, say, if he were speaking to a university audience, which includes the "three groups" (those who support you, those who oppose you, and the undecided). Being rather familiar with his style of presentation in that context, I can say that he does focus on the undecided.

On Maher's show, the audience has already decided. It was obvious from their responses that they have already identified which candidate they support. Hence, he focused on energizing them. And he did a mighty fine job of doing just that.

If one is to be successful it is to get people to be on your side. That is exactly what a litigator, salesperson or very successful people typically do. Not always but for the most part they do.

He only communicates to people who like him and in my opinion that is why he is a poor communicator. He is just not taken seriously by the majority of the people and it is because of his presentation.

I work with litigators all the time and some of the most famous ones. I will be visiting Bob McConnell's attorney soon. I've hung out with him.

The one common trait with them is they like to convince people. It is fascinating working with them By and large they are very funny and pretty gracious. Their art of communicating is something to admire.
I call them out of the blue and one of my best cold calls was getting an appointment with one of the most famous litigators in the country. One of his most famous cases was a long article in Rolling Stone. It is a very famous case. i was only the second meeting he ever took.

He didn't know me from Adam yet something i said hooked him. i do this routinely and have met many of the chairs of certain practices in the largest law firms in the country.
I just watch this guy and I shake my head.

I detest Reagan but one thing i know he communicated very well.
One example of his pathetic communications. When he called Obama a ni****d president did that win over anyone. I say no.

Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines (or Chelonii[3]) characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield.[4] "Turtle" may refer to the order as a whole (American English) or to fresh-water and sea-dwelling testudines (British English).[5]

I checked to see how I would know a tortoise when I saw one, and it seems that it is in the feet. Water turtles have webbed feet. Terrestrial turtles do not but have claws. Tortoises have elephantine feet.

Or at least that is what it appears to be. I am not that well versed in all terrapins, but I do know box turtles. And I try to educate people that they are not great water turtles. They might play in puddles to find worms, but if someone finds one and puts it in a pond thinking that is helping them, they will not be able to swim.
