I'm looking for help to prevent the locks being changed on my apartment. I'm at serious risk of losing my apartment, kitties and belongings. I feel like I've tried everything and am out of options... or out of time to find the right option. I admit to being scared. Please help me if you're able.
This is an awful situation. I have 2 days to raise $488 and avoid eviction. I had fallen behind but was on track to make the $1153 pymt by Jan 15th, when I got tangled up in chairs at the library and fell, breaking my right hip, on Jan 7th. I work at home. I haven't been home since the day of the fall and am now unable to work. I miss my kitties so much and have a friend who is helping and feeding them. The $1153 would bring me current. I was able to get a 6 day extension to the 21st of Jan, and have raised $665.
$488 is the remaining amount I need to avoid eviction. (now $263)
I don't have a Facebook page. I'm more of an introvert. I live alone with my babies. Now I'm in a rehab facility until it's safe for me to go home. If I lose my apartment ( which is on the ground floor and has no steps), I'll have no where to go when they release me from rehab, and I'll have to re-home my cats, which would kill me.
I'll answer any questions you have, if you need more info. I'm in Tucson AZ. I get carted off a few times a day for various physical/occupational therapies, but I'll be checking for updates. I've lived there for 9 1/2 years. I want to be able to pack my own things up and move out the end of March, which is also when my lease is up.
I do have a PayPal account. Is it smart to post the email address here, or should I just share it through private message?
I'll appreciate any help you could offer or contribute, as I know there are many people struggling these days.
Thank you so very much.
Adding the paypal email address: dancingwithluna@theriver.com
Thank you again.

Just dropped by to visit. She's also the one taking care of the kitty's.

(78,249 posts)I'd have to know more about her situation, like whether she's a senior, has a disability more permanent than the broken hip, etc. to go any further.
edit: Do I detect an autism puzzle piece? I'm Autistic myself, but certainly do not need a bloated nonprofit like the one many of us call "Aut$peaks" to speak for me.

(22,917 posts)Hi
Some of you may remember me and Wishadoo; I'm still planning to relaunch Wishadoo soon, as it is still so very, very needed.
liberalla was under the impression that we still weren't allowed to post financial requests on DU, as was the case a few years ago; she recalled that I had done that on others' behalf before. She sent a request to admin over a week ago, I believe she said, but hadn't heard back to know she is able to create a post on her own.
She sent a message to me on Monday but I didn't check in here until yesterday, and I encouraged her to create an OP ASAP.
Since time is so much of the essence, and since she doesn't have easy access to do a lot on the computer nor does she have a lot of experience, I think our best bet is for people to give to her PayPal account if they can. There's not really time for gofundme or other platforms.
She has exhausted any local resources that might be able to provide assistance, so this is her last hope for help.
If you can, please help. I just wanted to give some background to this, and why it is such a last-minute request.

(22,917 posts)Do you have a PayPal account? If so, just log in and send money (choose the send to family or friends option, versus a business transaction for goods or services) to her PayPal account address: dancingwithluna@theriver.com
Even if you don't have a PayPal account, I believe you can still send funds via a credit/debit card.
Go to the home page -- https://www.paypal.com/home -- and click the SEND button at the top of the page. Then insert her email address and amount and go from there.
Hope that helps.

I suspect it's much closer to goal now, but liberalla may be busy with therapy and unable to update.

(22,917 posts)I really didn't do anything -- Wishadoo wasn't directly involved in any way. I simply encouraged her to create this post after letting her know she is allowed to do so now on DU.
I don't want to take any credit.
Thanks to all the DUers who are helping her though.
Hopefully we'll get an update from her soon; she said she's in and out due to physical therapy at the rehab facility.

(20,544 posts)sorry but I am a techno idiot. If we want to make a donation what do we put in the email that is in the OP?
Rhiannon12866
(202,964 posts)It will ask you who or what you want to send money to, and that's where you type in the address in the OP. It will also ask you for a dollar amount and that money will be added to her account. Also, I've used PayPal before, so it is already linked to the bank account I want to use. Hope that helps. It's been awhile, so it took me a bit to remember what to do. I'm not exactly proficient regarding the Internets, myself...

Thank you all so much! What a relief!

(9,165 posts)I was overwhelmed and feeling very low when I started the thread. In 24 hours I was still overwhelmed (in a different way) and feeling high like a kite in the sky. Also feeling like I had people in my corner cheering for me. What difference. I so appreciate you caring and being in my corner.
I'll be working hard to get strong enough to go home soon, see my babies, and get back to work. I wish you the best in all you do.

That is a huge relief to know that, for now, you and the babies are okay.
Hopefully the social workers will be able to help guide you regarding any available assistance over the next few months, because I assume you certainly will need help.
But, one hour at a time for now. Focus on getting better.

(198 posts)Believe or not i love donating to small donations like this a lot more then the big national donations you see. Sometimes a story on gofundme goes viral although a deserving story they get 500,000 worth of donations. and i dont feel to much of an urg to donate to them because i feel like with a 100 dollar donation it ill be become 500,100 and just seems like not much of a difference.
But with causes like yours i feel like 100 , or 200 or even 25 dollar makes a big difference. Just feel comfortable tonight that you will have met your goal. I see you still need 263. At the end of today if that goal has not met i will cover any of the difference. wether its 50 or the full 263. IF the goal was met by the time i contribute then i will send additional funds as you will need groceries for you and the kitties! I hope this help. I wish you the best in recovering!

(22,917 posts)It drives me crazy when one person receives HUGE sums of money while so many others who don't get the spotlight on social media continue to struggle.
I'm sorry to mention Wishadoo so often in this thread (I haven't been at DU much, but older people remember Wishadoo and that's why liberalla originally reached out to me), but what you describe is PRECISELY why Wishadoo was created many years ago and worked as intended.
It simply worked so well that I was overwhelmed and couldn't continue to do it on my own any more and had to put it on hold.
I'm hoping to relaunch soon. I used to say I've always envisioned it as a member-owned cooperative (and I still do), but that wording seemed odd to many people as they only envision organic food co-ops and utility co-ops.
Instead, I'm going to rebrand it as a modern day mutual aid society. I'll post here on DU when it's time.
Thanks for helping liberalla and the others you no doubt have along the way.

(6,096 posts)Alternative Healing area since before Bush Nbr 2's first term. He is why I came in here to fight to keep him out of office,Ha
nevertheless...Wishadoo has HELPED so many people. And as the prior person says...it is so much more worth
giving a small amount to someone who's life "it will make a difference" too.
My problem with the AS&H forum is no one goes there anymore because of too many people that wanted to come
in and make fun or stir up their own "unhappiness" ...so somehow that forum has dwindled, as has most of DU,
because of hecklers, I feel.
At least I can sense I have made someone day's a better day. That's what life should be about more often.
I have been blessed and when I can help, things seem to happen to me....nice things....so I know it's worth it.
Hugs to you

(9,165 posts)What a difference a day makes!
When I woke today I felt strangely good. A lighter & freer sensation and clearly different from the last two weeks.
Again, THANK YOU to everyone for your financial help, support, encouragement and good wishes. It means SO much to me.
I think the total money raised was $882 and some odd cents. It's a good thing y'all went over the $488, because I actually needed $563 (instead of $488). The total amount due ended up being $1228 (rather than $1153), because of late fees added for the 6 day extension. They hadn't given me the new total previously but it's understandable there'd be additional late fees.
Then, they were requiring money orders for payment and the paypal donations weren't available for cash withdrawl yet. $220 had cleared from the night before. The apt managers finally agreed to accept a $720 m.o. yesterday and a $508 m.o. today, totalling the $1228. I wish they'd said that sooner, but I didn't get that news until about 5:35 last night and it had to be purchased and delivered by 6:00 pm. I spent hours scrambling trying to figure out how I could get cash in hand. Just frustrating--I had the funds now but I still wasn't going to be able to get the money order. Really?
So today the cash is available and the second money order will be delivered to them. Whew! The extra, 'leftover' donations will definitely be spent on kitty necessities and goodies...and probably a few other bills.
I want to apologize for the slow updates. This predictive writing is such a pain. Completely changing words, plus making corrections is so slow. I'll have to look up/learn the secret tricks to using it. And the pain medication makes me dozey, eyes crossing, etc. sometimes... I can't wait to get home on my own computer again~ ~ ~ and it will be in my own apartment!!! Yeah! All thanks to you!
Thank you from the fur babies and me!
I wish love and the best for all of you, ALL WAYS.
