Nebraska lawmakers kill measure requiring seventh-graders to be vaccinated against bacterial meningi

My best friend has suffered most of his life with the after effects of having this crippler-killer as a toddler. He has partial paralysis. He went to school with my son. In gym playing flag football with Steve Jr., Jr. always talked about him being one hell of a player. A lot considering his limp and use of just one arm. Imagine when ALL your catches are one handed. He comes from a family of athletes. He was robbed in life. I've never heard him complain about it. He has the heart of a champion.

The anti-vaxers can stick it.

Jury do what you want with this.

LINCOLN – Nebraska lawmakers have killed a measure that would have required incoming Nebraska seventh-graders to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis.

Legislative Bill 18 also would have required a booster vaccine for students after age 16.

Omaha State Sen. Bob Krist, the bill’s sponsor, said he brought the bill forward last year on behalf of the medical community, who convinced him that “this is the right thing for Nebraska to do.”

The bacterial disease infects the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
