The Republicans have an al-Assad problem

You know - al-Assad the current president of Syria.

Nobody wants him in power, we would probably take him out, except that as a few of us learned in Iraq, ousting a leader from power without knowing what will fill that vacuum is a BAD idea.

Republicans know that Trump is dangerous because he's a totally unpredictable egomaniac. And Ted Cruz is just dangerous - there is a reason most in Congress don't like him and I think its because they know that he is unhinged.

The Republicans do have a couple of reasonable (relatively) alternatives, but the base doesn't want anything to do with them. Thus, not a single Senator or Congressman has endorsed any Republican candidate. They know they are in trouble - they just don't know what to do about it.

if you will, but I am not following where this is such a problem for "Republicans" and how it's not for us?

We've been trying to take out Assad for a few years now. We've attempted just about everything except for sending in a few SEAL teams and executing him. We sure as shit set it up to wax Gaddafi (Pres Obama/Hillary) and we took out Saddam (Bush). I mean are you saying that as a democrat the POTUS has not ordered the assassination of Assad and that if Trump were elected that he would?

We do a lot of good and EVIL as a nation all across the world. We as progressive do not like it, but our party operates pretty much just like the GOP when it comes to warring and killing and ousting leaders all in the name of "Democracy" and "Freedom". Which should really be changed to "All in the name of influencing and controlling resources", mainly energy.

We sure as shit didn't do any of this as "we the people" and in keeping us safe. Politicians, Bankers, and Corporations are the ones that done this....who happen to be in bed with a large percentage of our elected officials on BOTH sides of the isle.

Sure we screamed "Bush Lied" but we can't act like our very own elected officials were not in on it. I mean if they were not, then we are fools for electing so many naive and ignorant politicians.

Again, I'm just a little confused in what you are getting at. It won't take much for me to catch on, but I need more info to form an opinion about your concerns/what you think you see in being the issue.

more sane and electable to the country as a whole, not just their base. But they've got no one that their base is interested in if they could eliminate Trump and Cruz as their candidates. The few candidates that they do have that could win a general election would never be acceptable to their base, and so there is a vacuum there.

"slow". I see your point now. Based on your intro I thought you meant that "literally" Assad was the problem.

edit: And, of course, Lindsey Graham has singlehandedly salvaged Jeb!'s campaign with his endorsement.
