This thread about Trump from Freeperville, is the canary in coal mine

And this isn't the only thread. Trump has been hugely popular over there until the past week or so.

It starts off with this excerpt:

As an influential evangelical Iowan, Bob Vander Plaats experienced what it was like to be friends with Donald Trump. The New York billionaire invited Vander Plaats and his family to visit New York several times, refusing to allow them to pay to stay at one of his hotels and lavishing kindness.

Then Vander Plaats - president of the Family Leader, which is opposed to abortion and gay marriage - decided to endorse Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) for president instead of Trump. On Tuesday, Trump skewered Vander Plaats on Twitter, calling him "phony" and "a bad guy." The attacks came as Trump announced that Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. had endorsed him...

“It’s Donald Trump exposed: He wants to be your friend when he thinks he can get something in return for that friendship,” Vander Plaats said Tuesday

He couldn’t buy this guy. He mistook him for a whore, and now he feels cheated.

The Trump base is no smarter than the Obama base. The country will continue to decline under celebrity-induced destruction. Stand by and watch.

Trump can't just say he's "disappointed." No.. he goes on a personal attack. Typical.

Keep it up, Trump. It's a long electoral season... this sh*t will catch up to you.

So.... What’s you point?

Does anything bother you even a little bit on this?

Anything that makes you even slightly uncomfortable with Trump?

Any mistake or misstep that you see with Trump at all?

I’m guessing not.

This is how Trump is going to make deals? By insulting everyone who disagrees with him?
Ted's way will be Reagan's way. He will go over the heads of the congressmen and make his case to the American people, applying pressure from below.

Cruz is capable of this. Trump isn't.

Somebody asked Donald Trump for money? Can’t be very bright. Only suckers give money. The Donald doesn’t give money. He buys people.

Seems like he’s already won the base.
No it will be bus loads of out of state voters bused in to Iowa that will give Trump the win.

BTW, those are the words of a bragging Trump supporter, and not mine.

and their fellow travelers, cruz is toast (for all the reasons they like him - he's done nothing but burn bridges and nobody is left to defend him) and Donald is likely to be the nominee. More whining from those who gave birth to the teabaggers who then birthed trump. They're getting exactly what they deserve.

The party would stand a better chance with Rubio if that is what they want. Of course they actually want scorched Earth so Cruz is their man.

It's the rabid base of the party - the ones that vote in the primaries. If it were up to the "party", Jeb would be way ahead (maybe Kasich for those sick of the Bush family). I've always seen Rubio as a VP pick - young, handsome, Hispanic and from Florida. I can't even remember one bill that cruz worked on with someone else and it got passed. It seems that even going back to his roommates in college finds him pretty universally despised.

I really can't assess the dynamics of Trump or Cruz. I got to think it would cost them Congressional votes. Irrespective I don't think any candidate will lose any of the Romney states with the possible exception of North Carolina.

There is a TRUCKLOAD of dirt on the donald that has yet to see the light of day this millennium - all the other dwarfs have been much to cowardly to use any of it but Hillary (or her superpacs) will not have that problem (Sorry, I just don't see Bernie getting the nomination - I'll vote for him if he's the nominee but I think we'll lose the election - I clearly remember the last time we had a nominee that promised to raise taxes).
