14. Now, now. It seems safe to say that

this would have been a fairly low-income family, even taking in several kids at a time. States don't exactly pay their home caregivers/foster parents extravagantly.

He wrote a novel full of his ideas on survival or something. It's free on Kindle, with only a couple paperbacks available (at about $55 now, so must have been an extremely limited print), so I just downloaded it to take a look. Obviously, it's not brought in tremendous amounts of money, although new interest might just result in it being reprinted. His family could apparently use the money.

... Yesterday afternoon I swapped a dozen text messages with Finicum after his daughter told me her dad was willing to be interviewed ... At 2:20 he texted back to me that he couldn't do the interview ... At 3:27 he texted me, "no need to try and set up anything anymore". 58 minutes late ... there was an exchange of gunfire and Lavoy Finicum died. He had told reporters "I have no intention of spending any of my days in a concrete box" ...
