(19,339 posts)The headline made me think that Synder had written an email to a mother saying that. He did not.

(19,339 posts)the world. The email was from Meegan Holland to Rick Snyder and others, referencing this blog post:
http://flintwaterstudy.org/2015/12/michigan-health-department-hid-evidence-of-health-harm-due-to-lead-contaminated-water-allowed-false-public-assurances-by-mdeq-and-stonewalled-outside-researchers/
According to Walters, Karen stated that He is barely lead poisoned. If CDC had not changed their lead poisoning standard from 10 down to 5, we would not be having this conversation. Angry, Walters protested that Karen was minimizing the problem, at which point Karen cut her off and said I am working with kids in their 40s and 50s. It is just a few IQ points it is not the end of the world. FOIA e-mails do reveal a Karen at DHHS who acknowledged receiving phone calls on the dates Walters called (the callers name is redacted in the FOIA), but elsewhere this person reveals to colleagues that the last time she actually worked with a child who had blood lead above 45 ug/dL was in 2009.

(14,449 posts)I didn't see what action he took or he took it as so over the top that it couldn't be true. The sooner he is out of office the better for the state.

Passing right-to-work in Michigan was more than a policy victory. It was a major score for Republicans who have long sought to weaken the Democratic Party by attacking its sources of funding and organizing muscle. "Michigan big labor literally controls one of the major political parties," Dick DeVos said last January. "I'm not suggesting they have influence; I'm saying they hold total dominance, command, and control." So DeVos and his allies hit laborand the Democratic Partywhere it hurt: their bank accounts. By attacking their opponents' revenue stream, they could help put Michigan into play for the GOP heading into the 2016 presidential raceas it was more than three decades earlier, when the state's Reagan Democrats were key to winning the White House.
