Since 2010, nearly 300 U.S. residents have applied or been referred for jobs as waiters, waitresses, cooks and housekeepers there. But according to federal records, only 17 have been hired.
In all but a handful of cases, Mar-a-Lago sought to fill the jobs with hundreds of foreign guest workers from Romania and other countries.
In his quest for the Republican presidential nomination, Trump has stoked his crowds by promising to bring back jobs that have been snatched by immigrants in the county illegally or outsourced by corporations. Voters worried about immigration have been his strongest backers.

I only hire winners. Those people that I hired who are from the US? They're winners. Because that's what you get when you elect me Donald Trump as your president. I'll staff the DOJ and the secret service with all winners, and there won't be any losers in my White House. And that's how you make America great again - you weed out the less qualify. See I go for quality over quantity. That's just how I roll!
