It will not be pretty when it breaks. And break it will.
Trump will probably be the nominee. The GOP will not be able to stop him. In fact, by trying to stop him, he will grow stronger.
Democrats can beat him IF WE ARE UNITED.
For the first time in my life I have stayed out of the Dem primaries. Maybe it was a mild case of apathy. No matter. I can happily support either of our candidates. Now, it seems, that sort of an attitude is becoming critical. We REALLY do have to stand united this time around.
It is a whole order of magnitude different. I can absolutely imagine Trump pulling Democrats to vote for him.
Our job is going to be getting out the vote. We have to marshal a turnout that betters Obama's 2008 numbers . . . but without an Obama.
So pull up your Big Boy/Big Girl pants, swallow the internecine rancor you might be harboring and get off your ass.
The consequence is at least four years of a talking yam on your TV. And this talking yam has many of the same traits as history's more reviled strongman of years past.
