Lord an Idiot ass, Van did a great job but what needs to be said when it came to the history of Civil rights it is not Democrat vs repug
it was Liberal vs Conservative, every great movement and progress was made by liberals
it was conservative who wanted keep slavery, conservatives that believed in segregation, and so on and so on

They also try argue that the socialism in 'National Socialism' means Nazis were liberal, and by extension modern neo-Nazis are liberal.

Look, I'm sensitive to the whole "democrats were all about segregation" schtick we hear from the GOP today. However, although I'm sure there is a way to connect today's "conservatives" to yester-years" version, the line of succession isn't so clear. This is predominately because the modern "small government" conservative isn't exactly the "segregationist" conservative of the past. The current fondness for bigots to side with the fiscal/social conservatives really only dates to about Goldwater/Nixon and the whole shifting "Southern Strategy". Truth is, the conservatives of the '60s fought hard to push out the whole "Bircher" bunch. However, since about Clinton, they have slowly accepted them back in. With the whole Tea Party/Birther bunch, they have completely embraced them at this point and now are suffering the results

But if ya wanna get pissed, some Trump surrogate on CNN was referring to the KKK as a "leftist" terrorist group and that is just indefensible. There was nothing leftist about them ever.
