NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) described Mitt Romney's expected Thursday attack on Donald Trump as "over the top."
In Romney's yet-to-be-delivered speech, the 2012 GOP nominee for president calls Trump a "phony and a fraud" and says that he is "playing the American people for suckers."
Brewer, who recently endorsed Trump, questioned why Republicans were attacking each other. "I heard some excerpts of the speech and I thought it was a little bit harsh and over the top and I wonder why we as Republicans want to always eat our own," she told The Huffington Post in an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

(60,071 posts)I would suggest long, slow braising with root veggies like carrots, white onions, and turnips to sweeten, then slathered with a vinegar based bbq sauce. A bit of liquid smoke won't hurt.
Be sure to brown the meat first. Even a marinade would be helpful.

Watching the Republicans' political convulsions is fascinating and more than a little horrifying.
I still believe that there was once a time when the Republicans could and did appeal to our higher selves (For the benefit of indignant Sanders supporters, this was well before your great-grandparents met each other, so don't worry about it). That was long, long ago, and such appeals fell out of fashion within Club Pachyderm.
Today's GOP now acts like Freud's primal horde, and we get to watch ex-Governor Brewer and others reaching the same realization.
Schadenfreude, anyone?
