Mark Twain, H.L. Mencken, and George Carlin combined couldn't have imagined tonight's GOP nightmare

...satire has transcended itself. My God--one of those people has a decent chance of being the next President of the United States. Do we give it back to the Indians--or beg the British to take us back? And would they want to take us?

Mencken might have agreed with some of Trump's racist stuff, at least in the 1930s. DemocraticWing Mar 2016 #6

The entire Republican campaign is a bizarre Onion article.

Did not see the debate but given the authors you mention above I have a pretty good idea of how it went and I can only laugh and weep at the same time.

It is pure gold seeing the Republican Party reap what they have sown over the past decade+. However at the same time it is very troubling and tragically sad given that this party is 50% of our governing body and currently controls both the House and the Senate. Should they win the Presidency and retain their majorities in both chambers I shutter to think what is going to happen to this country.

If anything, that truly shows how Trump is somebody we thought was in the past. But it's all too real and in the present.
