I can remember back during the Texas drought years ago, my sister proclaiming "What was that?" when she heard thunder in Austin. It had been so long since they'd heard anything like it
Whereas here on the Gulf coast, I've been hearing the literal howling of the wind for the past couple of days as it moves north. It has that same sound as heard in hurricanes, though thankfully without the wind-speed being anywhere near as intense.
