Ga. Teacher to Student: ‘Your Purpose’ Is to ‘Have Sex and Have Children

Because You Ain’t Never Gonna Be Smart’

http://www.theroot.com/articles/news/2016/03/ga_teacher_to_student_your_purpose_is_to_have_sex_and_have_children_because.html

A Georgia high school student was reduced to tears during a recent interview after recalling what she says her teacher said to her in front of her entire class.

Shaniaya Hunter, a junior at Green County High School, was recording her lessons on her school-issued iPad in December when she says that she asked the teacher a question and that he became upset. She alleges that the teacher called her “dumb” and added that her “purpose was to have sex and children.”

The comments were recorded on the iPad, WSB-TV reports. A male voice can be heard on the recording saying, “I have been around 37 years, and clearly, you are the dumbest girl I have ever met. ... You know what your purpose is going to be? To have sex and have children because you ain’t never gonna be smart.”

“It really hurt me inside,” Shaniaya told the news station. “I don’t think it’s OK. I don’t think he should be here.”

And in case you had even the slightest doubt...

and I hope that the world doesn't get so caught up in punishing him, that they fail to see that this beautiful girl is going to need a lot of support.

God only knows how long he has been saying these demeaning things to her.

I hope she is hit with an avalanche of love, support and encouragement from the world. She deserves it.

I hope she realizes that she shouldn't judge herself based on the ramblings of a complete asshole. He's the dumb one for sure!

Maybe he needs to take a few tech classes and get up to speed? Maybe start looking for new work? A heart? Something...

On the other hand I have no doubt that Shaniaya will be motivated to prove him wrong.

Someone teach this teacher about the use of double negatives...among other obvious things.

It tells a lot about the real Georgia - not the one that lives in DU myth - so I will flesh it out.

First, the teacher is as black as she is. This isn't racial. He is really black, and local.

Second, what I have heard is the guy is being sheltered because he's the basketball coach. Well, in GA we have a cult of a sorts. For some few it is snake churches, but for most it is sports.

Third, the reason behind his behavior is probably that the poor kid has a severe eye problem, which is one reason why she was recording the classroom lecture. So she can't read the slides and was dependent on his reading them, which probably slowed his classroom moves down, which is why he was so nasty and bullying. But she's a serious student. No kid should be subjected to this FOR ANY REASON. But in GA, very often scholarship comes WAAAAY behind sports in high schools.

Fourth, in what explains a whole lot about the real GA, the teacher is black, the student is black, most the school admin is black, and the attorney who is taking the case pro bono to try and get the kid some real decent treatment is white. Ain't nuthin' like you think it is in GA.

Here's an article that can give you some of the background:
http://lakeoconeenews.us/articles/2016/03/03/gchs-history-teacher-recorded-insulting-student

So what you have is a disabled, serious student who was being intimidated, insulted and harassed in her attempt to get the education to which she has a legal right and a teacher conducting his personality cult in the classroom.

The student has had eye surgery. Now she has to go back to school coping with this. A shittier story and more abusive situation can hardly be imagined, but it isn't racial. Instead, it shows a problem with our sports culture and our academic culture.

I could tell you other horror stories about what happens when people serious about education (and educators serious about education) collide with the sports/social star functions of GA high schools, but y'all are not interested. It is more fun to believe that we are all out burning crosses all night long and too tired to study in school.

I only bothered to post this because I don't want anyone to believe this girl is dumb or a victim. She is neither. She will prevail; she will go on to a good college.

Here's what she recorded that day:

Sorry...but we see the police unions fight for bad cops. And yes, sometimes the teachers unions will fight for bad teachers. This was a question Hillary had trouble answering in the last debate (she wouldnt answer).

How can a teacher humiliate a student that way? Someone's in the wrong damned profession.
