If you don't have a plan, someone has a plan for you: A story of Labor Unions Vs. TPP.

When I saw the TPP and the outrage, I am left with one question: Why didn't big labor have a fair trade bill pre-baked like ALEC has so many of?
After NAFTA I thought they would have a pre-bake just in case another toxic trade bill like TPP came up, which it did. Is it that they can't expend the money to keep lawyers on retainer? Are they too fractured?
Please someone explain this to me. I don't understand this for the life of me.

A 'pre-baked' plan would be great; even a series of key points that must be in any trade agreement. pampango Mar 2016 #1

Thanks for this. Interesting that the labor chapter of the US-Peru FTA is a model pampango Mar 2016 #5

It may be that they don't believe in international agreements on trade in any form or fashion. Or they may have decided that it is not effective to produce an outline for the key elements of a 'good' trade agreement. I doubt the reason is "they can't expend the money to keep lawyers on retainer". Perhaps there is an existing plan or outline that I have not seen.

for what unions were endorsing for the TPP. Has the implementation of the labor chapter in the US-Peru agreement been effective since it took effect in 2009?
