The First Couple of Canada, Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, came through to the White House this week to spend time with their cool senior-class friends, Michelle and Barack. At the state dinner last night, Michelle Obama wore a strapless Jason Wu dress and Sophie donned a dress by Canadian designer Lucian Matis. Justin and Barack, meanwhile, wore goofy, knowing smiles that revealed their awareness that this double date was between some of the coolest leaders in the free world.

16. The are not grey suits, they look stylish, but not flashy.

Usually in these things they either overdo it or go too conservative and safe. They look nice and nice together without looking too conventional or staid. I really like the green dress too.

20. I think Michelle has lost weight. Of course, she was never fat but she looks a bit thinner.

I'm conscious of it because I just llost over 20 lbs. and didn't notice til my hairdresser who only sees me once a month said I had. Then my clothes suddenly got baggy and I have to get some smaller sized clothes. My doc says it's a good thing even tho I wasn't fat. He said I'll live longer...

I think you are right, but it might be more time to work out too, she looks fit, not just thin. I hadn't thought about it, I had to go look, but she looks sharp, together.

I dropped 50 pounds a few years ago, it affects all kinds of things, but I wouldn't want the weight back for anything. At my age that extra weight really slows you down, physically and metabolically, and it's not like you still have lots of spare capacity any more.

So unless he is trying to make you too skinny, I don't think you'll regret it.

A spotlight shined Thursday night on three of the club’s most public members, who convened in the East Room of the White House for a state dinner, at which President Obama hosted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau, whose father served as prime minister for the first 13 years of his life, toasted Obama’s two daughters, Sasha and Malia, who attended the formal function for the first time.

“Quite frankly, the memories for me of being a kid and not being old enough to attend these kinds of events with my father almost makes me wish I had gone through my teenage years as a child of a world leader. But not quite,” Trudeau joked in a speech, flanked by a cascade of orchids adorning the White House walls. “I admire you very much, both of you, for your extraordinary strength and your grace through what is a remarkable childhood and young adulthood that will give you extraordinary strength and wisdom beyond your years for the rest of your life.”

The group was denied their chance at a private “Love Yourself” serenade, but they were treated to a performance by Canadian-born singer Sara Bareilles in the State Dining Room after dinner. The Obama girls will probably never forgive their dad for this one.
