Suicide can be devastating to friends, family, acquaintances. I lost an aunt and uncle to suicide, it is never easy.
My thoughts are with you and the victim's family.

We are waiting to see when the services will be.

Spring Break is this coming week.

When the students return, we will have the crisis team out.

Our students rotate based on their suspension/expulsion decision. He left us in Jan and went back to his base school.

One of my own teaches there so they will have the crisis team there as well

Strength and the hope his mother got many people to help with what I know she's going through for as long as it takes to be able to think straight and go on to get the counselling she will need. Such a horrible, tragic loss. Deepest condolences to all of you who knew and loved him.

this makes 8 student deaths in the last 2 years

the worst thing about this one is that he was just my student 2 months ago and I had to work very closely with him to get his fine arts credit

The students are out today as teachers were doing grades. We only had to be there 4 hours. I went in and kept my door locked so I could get my work done without teachers coming in to chat.

When she knocked on my door I could tell by her face something was wrong.

When she told me all I could say was NOOOO and I just burst into tears and so did the counselor and we just cried together for some time.

I am sure almost everyone reacted in a similar manner (how could they not?)

How are you doing, now?

I am really glad you came here to talk about this .... keep talking about it .... all of the feelings you may be having.

Even though we are on spring break starting today, several of us teachers and counselors are meeting to help the family

I sat by this kid almost daily for 18 weeks. Never would I have imagined this

There's not much comfort available - just don't let it haunt you.

The what-ifs can be a killer, and unfortunately for every one who does speak out and you are able to help, there are far more who don't.

My friend, whom is a son of an also friend, tried to kill himself monday, but friends got there before he could. Over a girl, and being kicked out of his house. He's doing better, but I'm wondering if I should say anything to police because he owns the shotgun he tried with.

22. I'm of two minds on the suicide issue.

One the one hand, I think suicide in young adults and teens is mostly the result of poor impulse control, a lack of wisdom/experience, and a lethal cocktail of hormones and chemicals royally fucking these poor kids over. It's hard to understand the breadth and richness of life ahead of you when your experience with it so far has been so small. I get why they do it, really. I feel like at every opportunity folks should seek out these kids and try like hell to make them realize that many of us were there once and that life DEFINITELY goes on. Such wasted potential.

On the other hand, I feel like suicide in non-mentally ill adults over 25 isn't really my business. People often have their reasons, and I feel like most of them understand the points I previously laid out. They know what they're doing, and I'm not quite sure It's my right to interfere, especially if I don't know them personally. I tend to believe that a "right to die" extends to all mature adults, not just the terminally ill. Some people just don't like living. I'll never understand why, but then again I want to live as long as I physically can without being a burden. Life is awesome, and in the end it's all there really is for us here.

I'm very sorry to hear about your former student. Nobody should die over something so petty and temporary (and in the end, it's all temporary).

saw suicide as the ONLY way out of their situation. Maybe there are family dynamics or isolation from friends that prevented talking about the situation in a rational matter, enabling them to see reason and possibly another solution, but they saw killing themselves as the only answer.

Some have psychological disorders that drive them to this desperate final act. They need our understanding and help whenever and however we can give it.
