Trump moves rally from "urban" Cincinnati to "suburban" West Chester

Note: At Mineral Man's request, this is being reposted from GD/Primaries as it is not related to the Democratic Primaries. There were some comments over in the now locked GD/P thread so this may have run its course over there but reposting anyway.

Yesterday it was announced that the Trump rally scheduled for Sunday in downtown Cincinnati at the Duke Convention Center was being cancelled for "secret service" concerns.

It has just been announced that Trump will appear Sunday at the same time in suburban West Chester, the primary city in Boehner's district.

Guess it's obvious what the secret service concerns were.

Black voters can easily get to the Duke Center on public transportation or on foot.

West Chester is another world. It's a well off community but not necessarily "rich" by any measure. The most notable characteristic is that it's predominantly white. As someone once said "It's so white it ain't even pink". The census says it's 7% black but having spent a fair amount of time up there, those 7% must be passing because it sure looks like 0%. Just my opinion and the exact number doesn't change the conclusion.

Trump understands he's got to keep his campaign out of those "dangerous" neighborhoods...you know...the ones where "those people" live.

Even on the few express buses that go out that way it is not "easy"

I implied it in my post but now realize that I didn't really finish the thought.

I thought the public transportation issue out there was 24/7. I thought it all stopped in the Tri-county/Forest Park area.

Thanks for appropriately making the point clearer.

You appear to be saying that AA can't attend a Trump rally because of the lack of public transportation??

Maybe just because I live in the "Motor City", but all the POC I know drive their own cars.

I am saying that it "probably" reduces attendance of AA and others who are currently in more financially challenging situations and unable to provide their own transportation. It also dramatically reduces the likelihood of spontaneous AA attendance. It'll take planning, even if that planning is only the 25 minute drive up I-75. Additionally, because anyone who goes to Westchester will have to arrive by car, attendees have be vetted in a variety of locations (parking lot entry, walk to the venue, etc) versus the city location where anyone can walk up to the doors from 4 different directions.

In Cincinnati, there's a lot of dependence on bus transportation in the core parts of the city and there are very few connections that let you get out to the burbs. That is by design. The folks running "the county" spend a lot of time talking in code that means "keep the city folk in the city"...and you can guess what city folk is code for.

I don't know about MoTown and how that impacts the relationship with cars. It may not be the same in other cities. Don't know.

Just saying Trump's move to the burbs is white flight.

you don't see that crap in West Chester. Indian Hill maybe, but not West Chester.

7% black in West Chester is probably accurate.

Note: The post in GD-P was locked because a consensus of forum hosts voted to lock it. GD-P is only for discussions having to do with the Democratic primary. A lock is simply an administrative decision, based on the wishes of DU's admins.

While you were locking my original GD/P thread, I was on a jury for an alert on another one that you locked. In that jury, I voted to leave it (since I didn't think locks were alert material) but noted that is wasn't clear that GD/P really meant GD/Dem P.

Then I got back and saw that my post was locked for the same reason. That made me look closer and it is clear. GD for general stuff...GD/P for DEMOCRATIC Primary stuff. Right there in front of my face.

So - no issue. We get to talk a little more about how Trumpster is an a$$hat, a thought that gives all of us a little smile for the day.

His original FB post:
People acting retarded in Chicago over a trump rally, I guess it's OK for them to cause trouble and its ok....there's those double standards bet Bernie or Hilliary put them up to it

He responds to his own post:
Can't be fair have to intimated people sounds like the Dems in action!!!!!

Me:
They were there to protest and did so peacefully. It was an open public meeting. The protestors should have been the ones intimidated but they weren't. Trump cancelled his "event" in Cinci tomorrow - using a Secret Service excuse. Lame.

Him:
Hrs in West Chester at 2pm that's 13 miles frm cincy that's were people can behave there selves not in the hood

My first response to his post:
Trump supporters must need a "safe space". LMAO.

Him:

developing with these rallies. When the Secret Service is having issues, and State and Local PD's are unable to assure safety, there is something amiss. Asking this question,is the Trump Campaign, with a wink and a nod, inviting in individuals to cause problems, noticed photos of his so called rallies were it seemed there are a few of the same people planted in the near back ground.

Like one Newser put it,if Trump does not control his crowds, some one is going to die. Totally sick.

Every one in my age group, which is older than dirt, remembers the Short Wave Radio of early Forties, and the Hate speech Rallies of the day. Trump is just doing a modern version of these same speeches. He is just replacing the names and changing the Countries. Through out History,we have seen these Authoritarian Hate Brokers, and their agendas is all about themselves and their special interests.
