Wow, I'm pretty impressed by what this guy said at church tonight about the election

So in the opening set of songs the worship leader gave a sort of mini-sermon like he usually does between some songs. He talked for about 3 minutes about the last song Hosanna, and how Hosanna was what the people called at Jesus when he rode into Jerusalem the last time before his death, and how it means "God save us." And then talked about how that didn't happen in the way they expected, and how people always expect strong leaders to come in to save them.

And then even mentioned how we hear that now in election season. And how so many people want some strong leader who's going to strike down all enemies and keep all the unwanted out and "who vow things like to make our country great" and all that. But that that's not what God intends to give us, or necessarily what we should want or expect.

And I thought "Wow that was great!" What I found best is that he actually quit being subtle about who he was obviously referring to. He's actually been talking obviously talking about Trump without explicitly saying "Trump" for weeks now (Things like "I get so depressed when I turn on the news now and see how people are being driven by fear, and how we have now politicians and media figures trying to stage their personal gain all based on fear&quot but to say that I was pretty stunned he came that close.

BTW this is an EVANGELICAL church. Not Unitarian or something like Episcopalian or anything like that.

But Cruz and most evangelical darlings still use fear as their tactic.

Seeing as it's how a mostly Millennial congregation for one, and with an official policy of openness to LGBT individuals and allowing them to play church roles, and allowing pastors to perform same sex weddings if they wish to. Last week the sermon was actually a roundtable discussion that involved an openly gay Christian.

accepts LGBTs. That is pretty unique among evangelical churches.
