The establishment of the Republican Party has two choices:
1. Steal the nomination from Trump at the convention and lose the election (in part because they will have lost Trump's supporters).
or
2. Grant Trump the nomination and lose the election (in part because few establishment-center Republicans will encourage people to vote for him; many will stay home, and some many even vote against him.).
The first will preserve the Republican brand, but it may well tear the party apart (for decades?)
The second will destroy the party and the brand (perhaps forever)!
What will they do?

Had they tempered their zealotry, fewer people would be struggling and feeling hopeless (facing a choice a several vanilla GOP apparatchiks offering more of the same policies that led to this misery).
Now they find themselves with this quandary, and I couldn't care less.
