Prosecute him, or at least the assaulted protesters should sue and hold him civilly liable. backscatter712 Mar 2016 #4

And he says horrible things, and that can't be permitted! We shouldn't have to listen to things we don't like or with which we disagree.

Hopefully I don't need the sarcasm smiley.

but he may just end up with a criminal foot in his mouth on national TV. I'm waiting for someone to be seriously injured and real questions of criminal charges be focused on him.

The idea of a petition struck me as ridiculous too, but politics unfortunately and obviously do have a major role. I won't be signing any oppositional petition now, but I will if a situation arises where the statements of a major presidential candidate are a clear proximate cause of serious injury. If his supporters rioted, they could be arrested too.

Trump's right about one thing -- we do need to be tougher.

Some of his statements meet Brandenberg v. Ohio muster - they're directed at causing imminent lawless action, and they were directed at an audience that has demonstrated that they're willing and likely to do said imminent lawless actions.

"The Cumberland County Sheriff’s office is considering filing charges of inciting a riot against GOP frontrunner Donald Trump for the Fayetteville, North Carolina rally according to an NBC reporter and local media sources. The rally was the site where Trump supporter John Franklin McGraw was arrested for sucker-punching a black protester and threatening to kill him."
