(58,785 posts)but he may just end up with a criminal foot in his mouth on national TV. I'm waiting for someone to be seriously injured and real questions of criminal charges be focused on him.
The idea of a petition struck me as ridiculous too, but politics unfortunately and obviously do have a major role. I won't be signing any oppositional petition now, but I will if a situation arises where the statements of a major presidential candidate are a clear proximate cause of serious injury. If his supporters rioted, they could be arrested too.
Trump's right about one thing -- we do need to be tougher.

(26,355 posts)Some of his statements meet Brandenberg v. Ohio muster - they're directed at causing imminent lawless action, and they were directed at an audience that has demonstrated that they're willing and likely to do said imminent lawless actions.
