are you such a selfish person that you would deny them that?
according to you the only person who has a right to speak sf the person(s) you support.

(61,935 posts)But Kasich didn't pay it forward, so to speak, and has likely cost Cruz very dearly in IL and to a lesser degree in IL.

(75,480 posts)I'm pretty certain of it. I didn't expect Rubio to drop out so soon. It's part of the plan to push Kasich up against Trump and then Trump will be ousted one way or the other. I'm thinking in a brokered convention, but who knows what other sneaky tricks they have up their sleeves.

(12,655 posts)subverting the will of the voters is going to go about as well as a fart in church. no, it will be worse. they will be PISSED.

(28,394 posts)It's a f*ckin' big deal! I heard somewhere that drumpf will need 60% of all the remaining delegates to get a first-round nomination.

(44,972 posts)If people come to their senses, seems like Trump would be easier to beat in general election than whoever else Republicans might come up with.

(44,972 posts)His home state. Seems no way he can get enough delegates for the nomination. If Trump doesn't get enough delegates it could be anybody.
I heard that he has to get 85% of the remaining delegates, but if Cruz were to drop out, that would be realistic.
Fortunately, Cruz is too full of himself to pack it in.

Mathematically, Trump Is On Pace To Erase His Ohio Loss
Guess what? Trump could make up for all 66 delegates he lost in Ohio with huge delegate margins in Illinois and Missouri. In Missouri, Trump is clinging to a lead of just 2,400 votes, but IF things continue as they are, Trump will capture 47 of Missouris delegates to just five for Cruz. And in Illinois, where Trump is winning about 40 percent of the vote, he could win all but a handful of congressional districts, giving him perhaps 60 of the states 69 delegates. Wow.

(12,655 posts)and kasich is the chosen one. like trump or not, this is wrong as wrong can be. why even bother with the pretense of voting anymore...lets just declare ourselves a third world country and get it over with.

and we will be screwed.

(42,770 posts)that it is the Republican National Convention delegates that truly select a nominee. That, primaries used to be called "preference primaries" and have evolved to imply that they mean more than they really do.
From Wikipedia:
In case of a brokered convention, Rule 40a of the 2016 convention rules states that a candidate must have the support of a majority of the delegates of at least eight states in order to get the nomination.[2] On the first ballot, delegates from all states and territories except Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and a few from Louisiana must vote for the candidate who won their support on the day of their state's primary or caucus. On the second ballot, 55 percent of a state's delegates are free to vote for whomever they want. By the third ballot, 85 percent of all the delegates are free agents

(12,655 posts)but if it involves overriding the will of the voters, its not democracy.
thanks for the info!
Tommy_Carcetti
(43,151 posts)Granted, it was his own, but I'm sure his supporters probably want to hear him talk. Sanders gave a speech too, and it's possible he might not have won any of the states tonight.
And at least he won't waste our time talking about Kasich steaks and Kasich vodka.
I'm fine with him playing spoiler if it means a brokered convention for the GOP. Because brokered convention means chaos for the GOP, and we get the advantage.
restorefreedom
(12,655 posts)but whatever, he can have his speech. but whatever short term advantage we might think we have due to a brokered convention, a blatant slap in the face of democracy is never good. if they want trump, they should have him, as odd as that may sound.
otherwise, we are just another third world country fixing elections
