Over 700 CAPTIONs in my journal!

I just broke 700! Click on my little picture/logo/whatever to see the entire.

The rules I give myself: each CAPTION has to be as well written as possible, short enough to stay funny, yet long enough to provide context for understanding by someone a year or more after the posting, etc. From the word choice to the phrasing to the whole with the picture (which is hand-picked for effectiveness), CAPTIONing has proved a good writing exercise.

Actually I was CAPTIONing heavily back in the Bush years, but I don't know how to find and add them. There's probably 2000 in all.

These days Underpants and Johonny and several others like Randome will often add very good CAPTIONs, but back in the day there were 5-6 of us posting original pictures with CAPTIONs and then CAPTIONing each others' posted pictures. It was a small DU community and very much fun (esp. CAPTIONing Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al.) We felt as though we were writing a comic strip to leaven DU's news orientation.

We have also often tried to point out statements and attitudes by these jokers which may have gone unnoticed.

Thank you, skip fox! I always enjoy them, but never knew the "whole story" behind them! They are always so witty that no reply can do them justice! I wish I had seen the ones from the bush years. I'll bet those were gems!
