NYC said he was mocking a newbie troll--never meant it as it was taken to begin with.

None of that matters anyway, because I very much doubt Skinner will reconsider. I don't know if anyone has asked for reconsideration.

We still believe that the vast majority of DU members are perfectly capable of participating in a productive way, and serving on juries in a non-partisan way. But given the pervasively negative tone of discussions here, we think it would be wise to provide a greater incentive for people to do so. Going forward if we see anyone voting to leave the worst-of-the-worst posts, or voting in a nakedly partisan fashion to hide posts which are clearly legitimate, then we will remove that person's ability to serve on juries. (We are not going to provide any notification to members who lose their jury privileges, because under the messed-up values of primary season we think many of you would see it as some kind of badge of honor.)

So, please, do the right thing when serving and let's clean this place up a bit.

We've also decided to try removing the current "five hides and you're out" restriction, mainly because we suspect that members would be more likely to vote to hide bad behavior if they didn't feel like one of their friends might get canned over it. So while members can still be flagged for review for getting posts hidden too quickly, there's no more five-hide suspension. And anyone who is currently suspended for getting five hides is able to post again as of now. We reserve the right to change this decision if it seems like it's having the opposite effect to what was intended.

whose accounts have been allegedly "under review" for months. That was for your information and for the information of anyone reading this thread.

Thank you for quoting Skinner's post, but I read it when it went up. I'm saying there are, as a matter of fact, apparently exceptions that his post did not describe.

My takeaway from the Skinner quote is that those currently and in the future to be "under review" could be there for a while.

I will be first to tell you that I am not one of the DUers plugged into who-posted-what-and-when, so I really don't know why a decision could take a long time.

welcomed back, except he is not a Hillary supporter. I don't know if there are others. He is the only one pointed out to me. (I am not much for tracking this stuff myself.)

Reviewing an account does not take months. When things get to that point, the poster is, for all practical purposes, banned, without coming out and saying that.

PPRs are not timeouts.

The Administration has stated before that they will examine requests to reverse a PPR decision on a case by case basis, so those who have been banned and wish to return should make their case via email to the admins. IF they receive no response, the answer is no (the administrators reserve the right to ignore any request to restore a banned account).

Amnesty is being applied to folks who have 5 or more hides (no matter how many times) and were restricted from posting (but a time out never prevented from sending pm or rec). Amnesty does not include folks who have been banned.

It's one thing to debate within the Democratic party. It's another to advocate against the Democratic party. If there's a libertarian or independent message board out there, then those banned posters should be there.
