Recycling Eyeglasses

I did some spring cleaning and have 14 pairs of old prescription glasses to be recycled (not all mine actually). The frames are in good to very good condition. Does anyone know if the Lions Club still recycles old prescription glasses?

so check with some of the docs near you. If they won't take them, they'll know who will.

They don't recycle the glasses so much as the frames, many of which go to developing countries so poor folks can see.

does this but in others they have stopped. jftr - It is my understanding that all the glasses must be sent out of the country and can not be used in the US. Not sure why that is.

If you have a local agency like First Call for Help call them for advice.

Also, some Costcos accept recycled glasses but again they are used out of the country.

Someone posted on DU a year or so ago that people down on their luck and looking for work often need reading glasses. So, I buy readers at Dollar Tree and drop them off at the computer lab in my local public library. Probably time to do that again.

Lens Crafters took them in the blink of an eye! They'll go to the Lions Club. Thanks to all who replied, clearly I can see you care.

(My wife says I have to spring clean more often.)

Guy was pretty cool for a lawyer. So when our office upgraded our phones a couple of years ago they went to the Verizon program. And the phones came from Sprint originally!

FYI, they even take solitary chargers since some phones come without chargers. We got the office pack rats to clean out their desks.
