I know why "Donnie Short Fingers" is running for President

I think his decision to run for President was made the night of the Correspondents Dinner when he was embarrassed and eviscerated by the President. I don’t remember the year, but I distinctly remember him sitting there, red-faced, steam coming out of his ears…or his…whatever.

Remember, this was the night that the President had just ordered a raid on the compound to take out the bastard that brought down the World Trade Center buildings.

Really, who could blame President Obama for launching some pointed barbs the Trumpster’s way? For months and months, Trump had used his media manipulation skills to great use regarding the presidents birth. So much was the crescendo building about President Obama’s country of origin that he decided to put the whole thing to rest, “once and for all” (except for the extreme right-wingers who still claim he’s a “Kenyan born Muslim terrorist”) and release his Birth Certificate. It really was a stroke of genius. “Here’s my ‘effing’ Birth Certificate you sick pricks, and BTW, here’s Osama Bin Laden’s ‘effing’ head too!”

And there sat Trump in all his glory, and the President meticulously, and with the comedic timing of Steve Martin, emasculated and eviscerated him. Poor Donald, the laughter of the thousands around him cascading down on his coiffed troubadour head. It was probably one of the few times in Trumps life that he was made to feel “uncomfortable”. It must have felt like thousands of shards of sharp glass ripping at his ego. Personally, I think my favorite line from President Obama that night was when he talked about the massive and consequential decisions he has to make, and compared that with Donald having to fire Gary Bussey from Celebrity Apprentice. Pure…Comedy…GOLD!

Now, a normal and mentally healthy person is able to take a good natured “ribbing” and laugh at themselves, but that’s not “Donnie Short Fingers”. He’s a pompous, vindictive, thin-skinned, self-absorbed prick of the highest order. To borrow a great description of Barbara Bush…”that man can HATE!”

I honestly believe that he began to plot his hostile takeover of the Republican Party as soon as the chuckles and guffaws of that night began to wane.

I also don’t think that Trump particularly cares about being President. He wants to try to get back at the man who made him a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. His goal is to destroy everything that President Obama has accomplished, and if he has to burn down the country to do it…he couldn’t give a shit.

You know what I say? “Eff him if he can’t take a joke”

He flirted with a run in 2000 on the reform ticket. His platform was single payer healthcare, assault weapons ban, and a one time wealth tax on people with net worth over 10MM to combat the debt. However, Buchanan's people took over the reform party and drove it into the ground.

There was no opening in 2004 for a "3rd party" and in 2008 Obama had locked up the "Change" thing.

This year has offered him the first real opportunity to come in as an outsider and give people what they have been begging for since 1992.. someone to come in a shake things up in a major way.

Remember, Perot was leading in some polls before he dropped out, because he never WANTED the job. He just wanted to get NAFTA off the table. People have been yearning for that outsider every since.

Trump is now scratching that itch for a lot of people.

There are people honestly deciding between Bernie and Trump, because they want THE SYSTEM to change.

A completely non-political talk show I listen to recently had a call in segment and a LOT of people were considering Trump for just that reason. The host, who is about as far from a racist or bigot as you can get, was also leaning towards Trump because, as he put it, it's time to "burn it down".

The political establishment has failed us for a long time. Obama came in on a wave of hope and change, but turned out to be just another center right politician. People are now desperate for that change and SOME (not myself) are willing to turn to Trump to get it.

Heck, even Obama has called himself center right. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/09/04/obama-says-hed-be-considered-maybe-center-right-in-parts-of-europe/

Even on DU he has been considered Center Right. http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002303013

So why is this suddenly "shocking" or "insulting". His policies are to the right of the center. That's center right.

I don't remember my old screenname. I left DU in 2004 when the democrats chose Kerry over Dean. It was probably RKilroy or something like that, but I wasn't able to figure it out and don't have access to that e-mail anymore.

I didn't vote for Kerry, nor did I vote for Obama. I voted Green in all those elections.

I didn't vote for Clinton either.

In short... I don't vote for republicans.

I never said I was a democrat. I have said over and over again, I am back on this website for one reason and one reason only. Bernie Sanders.

I was a registered independent, although switched to democrat when Bernie announced.

I joined this website in 2001 when I saw a banner during the protests a the bush inauguration. I did vote for Gore in 2000. I worked incredibly hard for Howard Dean in 2003/04 and was stunned when the democrats chose a war voter and then predictably lost the election. I was actually the first online contributor to his campaign and helped coordinate meetup with his campaign and my wife got to introduce him at his Union Station rally in Los Angeles (well, actually she introduced Martin Sheen, who then introduced Howard Dean).. which is why I am not a Martin Sheen fan, because she was SUPPOSED to introduce Howard Dean, but Martin Sheen DEMANDED to be the one to introduce him, so as we were getting ready for her to give her speech, Dean's people (and Dean) came in personally to apologize to her. Rob Reiner was in the room and he offered to introduce her, which was super cool of him. Anyway, when Dean dropped out.. I left the site behind and forgot it existed for many years.

The 2008 democratic primaries didn't interest me that much because it was a race between two people who were center right. I did get to meet Obama in 2007 when he opened a gas station nearby. Excellent speaker, but it was very clear to me who and what he was. A politician first and "democrat" second. He proved me right when he threw away the public option, made the bush tax cuts permanent and pushed for TPP.

And no.. I NEVER voted for Bill Clinton but I supported him during the idiotic impeachment hearings, when I helped to organize hundreds of people to join with moveon.org.

I look at the political parties the same way I look at religion and I have absolutely no loyalty to any specific party.

So, no.. I'm not in the minority party. You are.

Democrats are 29% of the population. Republicans are 26%.

The rest of us.. we're the majority. The independents. And guess what. You don't win ANYTHING without us.

Thanks for bringing this up. Everyone should review it, if only for the sheer pleasure it brings one to see The Donald laid low.
