General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTrump is ranting like a madman in presser on his plane.
Mother of GOD he's rambling, repeating himself, going all the way back to Megyn Kelly and Rosie O'Donnell, raving about Ted Cruz's "phony" praying with his family and making multiple takes on a campaign video, pivoting to the "fact" that he is really the victim in the Lewandowski incident, and so on and so on.
Meanwhile, if I'm not mistaken, a thousand protesters and hundreds of pro-Trump motorcycle gang members are about to converge in Wisconsin.
I. cannot. even.
I know this is a useless thread, but now and then a girl's gotta let off steam.

(41,915 posts)I've seen them live a couple of times. I think they play it just like it is; Penn is the patter and Teller is just brilliant.
But back to The Donald, this fits with another article I read from a woman who was a former CEO of some holding of his, who said if you had any idea and wanted it approved you had to act as though it had been his and admire his brilliance at thinking of it. Ick.

(42,770 posts)we wanted - we talked up the opposite. Worked like a charm.
Trump has never had anyone question his mind, his actions, his decisions, ever. He never was in a weaker position than others.
Explains why he is not at least trying to learn new things (i.e. what exactly is strategic nuclear warfare?) - he thinks his brilliance will get him by and it always has.

(23,855 posts)his approach has seemed ... less than serious ... since he started. it's like he went full on KKK+Mussolini, thinking eventually people would get disgusted and go home, and now he's a rock star well on his way to the Republican nomination. he's risking everything for what could be the single greatest piece of political satire/performance art ever, i'm just hoping he drops the punchline at the convention: "the nomination? nah you guys are a bunch of racist losers, i don't want your stupid nomination."

(57,936 posts)from the beginning that the nominee will be Ted Cruz (barring some terrible scandal and assuming his birth in Canada will pass muster with the Republican kind-makers).
Yesterday, on KPFK (Pacifica in Los Angeles), a Republican spokesperson said that Trump would have to win 50.1 percent of the delegates to take the nomination on the first vote at the convention according to Republican rules. He can't do that as things now stand unless he wins a lot of delegates between now and the convention. I don't think he will achieve that because the liberal states like California are voting now. Also, I don't think he can get that many delegates because candidates like Rubio and Carson probably still control their delegates and can use that power over their delegates for various political advantages in the future.
I have always thought that the Republican candidate will be Cruz. He is actually a well educated lawyer but can talk like a rube. He learned to speak at the foot of his daddy's pulpit and knows how to appeal to Evangelicals. I think he will be the presidential candidate and Ohio's (swing state) Kasich will run for VP on the Republican ticket. That's my bet. So all this worry about Trump in my opinion is just a distraction.
I think that Cruz will be the candidate to beat. And we should especially focus on the problems of Cruz and Kasich.
Could be some candidate we don't know anything about, but I predict Cruz.

(4,033 posts)Cruz is one scary bastard. You throw in all his religious crap into the bin with his political garbage & you get scary garbage. His religion scares me to the bone.
Also anyone who gave up their Canadian citizen within the past 4 years (just so he could stand as a Senator), is in my eye not worthy to be President.

(22,651 posts)Whats even worse is new stuff coming out about Cruz.
Cruzes wife worked for Condoleezza Rice? at the National Security Council? and then made some deal with Robert Zelick and the Bush bailout bank Goldman Sachs?? did she work with these people and Ted Cruz was inner circle with her during the entire Bush Admin.?
Cruz has to come clean and sue these people if all these details aren't true about him. He's even worse then Trump if that's possible.

This means that whomever our nominee is, we need to work our asses off to make sure s/he is elected.
Honestly, my fervent hope is that the GOP convention will be contested and an establishment candidate nominated. Then Trump can break off and form the TRUMP party. He'll suck off GOP votes and we Dems will win!
Sounds good to me
