They care about is what Donald Trump said about abortions. Yes it was despicable what he said. But there are issues that are going on in the country and in the world that need to be solved. How could they not discuss that???
I only caught the end of Hillary and the entire Bernie interview and Rachel didn't even ask any questions about issues. It was more about here's your chance to bash the Republicans.
Our fourth estate is in a sad shape.

(3,919 posts)disgusting and dispicable. she did this 3 times tonight.
also, chuckie t. is reinforcing the meme that the sanders campaign spokespeople/surrogates are not on the same page as bernie because chuckie has noticed there are descrepancies - especially recently, when a surrogate will make a statement and bernie is not aware of the statement. i guess bernie is supposed to be a fascist like the rest of the candidates with everyone marching in lockstep and following some script in the sky.
rachel also hammered on bernie about donating some of the money his supporters donate to the dnc to support other congressional candidates. that was infuriating - because, as rachel pointedly stated, afterall, hillary is out raising money for her campaign and for the dnc. what a joke! it is all for hillary and dws' agenda.
rachel is hideous.

(59,495 posts)I think I finally get what people speaking of other candidates meant when lack of support from the media was attributed to them not pandering to the media. In Bernie's case, he goes further, he is not just not pandering, he is calling them to task.
It is pretty obvious that Rachel is more impressed by Clinton and on a personal level seems to like her. That a viewer can easily see this would be bad if she were a journalist, but in reality, all the people with these shows are not journalists as much as TV personalities.
As such, she is smart, entertaining, creative and charming .. and when there is not a primary with multiple left sides, she is dependably a strong, articulate voice for our side.

karynnj
(59,495 posts)afterwards. She stated and he agreed that Bernie's comment on the media spending too much time on outrageous things said by Trump ignored that a woman's right to choose is a core issue in the campaign. She then said it was clear that HRC thought it an important issue.
In fact, Sanders and Clinton were very similar in saying the comments were outrageous. There was no disagreement. What Sanders said did not mean the issue of a woman's right to choose is not important - he has consistently unambiguously said that he wanted no new infringements on a women's right to choose. It is not that ISSUE that he thinks unimportant it is making what TRUMP SAYS the major news item of the day.
I think their comments - saying this is not important to Bernie - might reflect that he was calling out Rachel for her making that a question to ask him and Clinton - not on their positions on choice, but on Trump. It also suggests that part of the media appearing not to really like him might be that he not only does not pander to them, but he calls them to task.

(25,220 posts)his comment was not about the abortion issue. However, the MSM is playing the Hillary soundbite where she disses Bernie. MSNBC must have played her comment 3 times in the last two hours.
Her campaign jumped on this opportunity to attack Bernie (and this is an attack) and MSNBC is going along with it. This is really disingenuous.

(185 posts)Never for news since whats on now isn't worth watching-and I long since included MSNBC on that list.
They're(MSM) creating the general election narrative. The narrative is going to be wedge issues. They're setting Trump up as the GOP nominee and Hillary is going to represent women's rights. That's whats going to decide this election i'm afraid. Substance is not Hillary's strong suit because she's got sooooooo much baggage, but throw a misogynist candidate and a female candidate and wallah!!
More representation for Wall Street. Main Street loses.....
The only candidate who seems to be benefiting from Trump so much is Hillary. Funny how they are friends. It's also funny how he donated to her 2008 campaign. Funny how he became a raging birther as soon as Hillary lost the primary. Almost as if this is scripted.
Just an observation...

(304 posts)This is UNBELIEVABLE! After reading an article at Anonymous on the antics in Arizona, I noticed a comment attached to the article that stated there are widespread reports of voter registration manipulation in PA and NY.
See article: Anonymous Investigate Arizona Election Fraud, Sanders Was Hacked
Link: http://www.anonews.co/anonymous-sanders-hack/
Since I live in PA and am a Bernie supporter, I decided to confirm my registration immediately.
I checked the VotesPA website and, sure enough, voter registration information on both my husband and me is not available!!! We have been registered Democrats and voting at this location since 1987 and 1994 respectively.
This is the message that came up for both of us: "No Voter Registration information could be found for the data provided. Either search again using different data or contact your County Voter Registration Office."
Calling tomorrow and surprise (not), we are Bernie supporters!!! INCREDIBLE!!! Just coincidence in state after state???? I think not!!!
Seems like those two lapses in the firewall (both reported by the Sanders Campaign) are benefitting only one of our two Democratic candidates...
HIGHEST PRIORITY!!! PLEASE TELL EVERYONE WHO IS STILL WAITING TO VOTE IN PRIMARIES TO CHECK THEIR REGISTRATION...ESPECIALLY FRIENDS IN NY AND PA!!!
Pretty sure MSNBC won't cover this story either!!!

That said, Trump's comments about abortion are enormously important. Voters need to know that the GOP's leading candidate proposes making being a woman illegal.
The most annoying thing is that you all continually complain about cable television yet continue to generate ratings for them and contribute to their profits. It isn't news. It has never been news. It's fucking entertainment. Not a one of those people with prime times shows has ever been a journalist. Just turn the damned thing off and leave it off.

(16,371 posts)Everything put out by government or big business was presented seriously in authoritative tones ... the horrors of the eeevul commies, the domino theory, the wonders of science. The wonderfulness of our public officials. The big three networks virtually never mentioned anything about US foreign policy or what was happening in other countries unless it could be fit tightly into the eeevul commies narrative. Never, ever did they mention the CIA role in coups and assassinations to replace democratically elected foreign leaders and governments with autocratic dictators.
We were all more accepting and innocent about authorities and experts which, imo,is the main reason we look back on the news of the post-war era as if it were more legitimate than now. It's not them, it's us.

(1,325 posts)It's now commonly called the Media rather than News. Wonder why? These assholes are in the entertainment business, not the news delivery business. It's all propaganda, all of it. When was the last time we were shown a story about the complete clusterfuck that is Fukushima? And Japan is going to host another Olympic games? How in the hell is that even possible? What's going on in Yemen? Why our ardent support for the Saudis? Why were so many Americans led to believe that the Surge in Iraq was successful when it led to the creation of ISIS or al qaeda 3.0? What's life like for the average Libyan today? It's all manufactured consent and we as a nation wouldn't recognize nor understand actual news reporting as most of us have been force-fed nonsense all of our lives. The popular narrative that Reagan was a great and popular president is a most glaring example of today's Newspeak. Without a complicit Media, Trump and Cruz wouldn't even go out in public, let alone hold positions of power.
And on a brighter note - check out the article about McDonald's experiment with raising wages. Happier workers, less turnover, customer satisfaction rose and profits actually went up. Wanna bet that this story gets the usual short shrift?
