Three-year-old Flipino girl diagnosed with 'mysterious disease' dies

Three-year-old Caitlin Soleil Lucas at the National University Hospital.

SINGAPORE - A Filipino girl who sought treatment in Singapore for a "mystery disease" died today.

Three-year-old Caitlin Soleil Lucas had flown from Manila to Singapore in February after doctors in the Philippines were unable to identify the "insect bites" on her ankle. The bites turned out to be lesions , which spread across her body.

Doctors at the National University Hospital later diagnosed Caitlin with juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia.

A Facebook page, Courageous Caitie , set up by Caitlin's parents had announced that the three-year-old was in critical condition on Thursday morning.

Shortly after, her parents posted that she had died.
