from a fairly high level job--about three or four steps down from C level of a very large corporation. Going on six months now and not even the hint of an offer. He's thinking about taking a construction job just to have some money coming in and not vegetate at home. They are not hurting just yet-his wife has a fairly well paying job that seems secure for the moment. But with one kid in college and another almost there, they are looking at some major lifestyle changes if something doesn't turn up soon.

No sympathy needed, they will get by, and they're a lot better off than many. Just an anecdote that corporate america is not interested in middle aged people, no matter how well qualified or experienced.
