cuttings from your lawn or other peoples lawns who contribute to the compost. Make sure it doesn't have chemicals in it that were used for the weeds, i.e. dandelions, etc.
We don't allow any other's lawn cuttings into ours. We don't want to spread those poisons on our garden.

(38,310 posts)We don't have a lawn anymore, we took out our front lawn many years ago, replacing it with drought resistant plants. When the drought here in California got worse we let our back lawn go too. I never did compost the clippings, instead I used an electric mower with a "composting" blade which finely chopped the cuttings and left them in place.
leave em on the lawn.
i get clippings from neighbors sometimes, but i feed them to the chickens.

(28,791 posts)Store produce trimmings go into the city compost bin to be taken to a facility with high temp composting.
Organic or stuff we grow ourselves goes into our backyard pile.
