Husband of high-ranking state prosecutor killed while driving for Lyft

ATLANTA - Atlanta Homicide detectives are hoping the public can help them find the killer of a man who was a LYFT driver, father of a little girl and husband to a prosecutor with the State Attorney General's Office.

Investigators said 34-year-old Shahriar Zolfaghari was found early Wednesday morning in his gray sedan at the northeast Atlanta intersection of Rankin Street and Boulevard in Old Fourth Ward. Passersby noticed when the light to turn onto Boulevard changed, the car didn't move and the driver appeared to be unconscious.

“We don't have any indication he was robbed. He still had his identification and I believe he still had credit cards,” Major Lee said.

Shahriar Zolfaghari, 34, was shot in the upper torso and found dead inside his car at a stoplight in northeast Atlanta around 1 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

He was married to Camila Wright, a Georgia assistant attorney general who focuses on human trafficking cases.

In October 2014, Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens appointed Wright to prosecute human trafficking cases across the state, he said in a news release when he hired her.

Before that, Wright had established the Fulton County Human Trafficking Unit in that county's district attorney's office, and had worked closely with the FBI, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other agencies to investigate human trafficking.
