There's been speculation that they're trust fund babies who want to relive the glory days of the 60s, kids from Contra Costa who are looking for opportunities to run amok, actual anarchists associated with Berkeley's Anarchist Bookstore - they show up at what start out as peaceful protests and turn them into havoc. If I see young people - especially men - show up at a demonstration with a bandana over their face, I expect the situation is going to deteriorate quickly.

Here in San Diego it was literally the usual suspects that take to the streets every so often.

(154,021 posts)such as the Colectivo Zapatista.
Since we did not have a usable photo of any of them, I did not have to bother explaining that, for example.
Many of the barrios in the South West have community organizations at the very local level, mirroring neighborhood organizations in Mexico, For example one of the groups here, was the Union del Barrio, which is based and mostly concerned with Barrio Logan. Their beef,. is mostly with bad government that for example, over polices the neighborhood They are also concerned with the local schools, and the streets and they have, locally, two aztec dancer troupes. These are not unlike your Neighborhood Association, but they trend way,and I mean this, politically to the left. And I do not mean the US bland version of the left. I mean the PRD version, or the Mexican Labor Party version... which makes American progressives looking like mere centrists on a good day.
The Colectivo Zapatisa is an outshoot of the Zapatista front in Chiapas, with some people being recent arrivals from Chiapas.
Yeah, yeah, these colectivos are a base of mobilization and self protection.
The Mexican Flag is not unlike the Irish or Italian flag at these events, it is a symbol of ethnic and cultural pride with a few who are nationalists.

nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)They did not talk to just any media.
We ran photos of the line and like other Secret Service protected zones, tjey got tje signs inside
Bernie was more relaxed in that sense.

We took photos of the trump merch. like we do at any of these rallies, but we simply concentrated on the rest of the story.

(1,473 posts)As far as they are concerned they and their candidate can do no wrong. Even if they get video of Bernie signs and Bernie shirts they will simply claim its Trump supporters , Hillary plants pretending to be Bernie supporters or it will be played down. This is always the way Berners roll.
Turin_C3PO

(1,473 posts)The shoe fits , they lie every time one of the Berner people causes problems, whether its stealing from the DNC, making up ridiculous lies about rigged elections, or trying to portray violence and having to talk some thug out of throwing a chair at the Nevada convention as just " lifting a chair and placing it back down. " notice how they cant just admit some asshat got out of control instead they try and dilute the violent intent.
.
Even the Bernie supporter who threatened to cut out a congressman's tongue is just waved off like its just one fanatic...yet there have been multiple death threats , rape threats wishes for hanging etc. and we're to believe none of it is from sanders supporters?

?w=700&h=&crop=1
puffy socks
(1,473 posts)I can go take pics of Bernie supporters and post them too.
Do you have a clue what proof is?
Proof these aren't Bernie supporters causing the problems tonight has nothing to do with San Diego where Bernie supporters harassed children.. In San Diego going by video I saw people wearing Bernie shirts and holding signs and yelling and harassing Hillary rally goers. I heard them, but of course Bernie supporters always blame others...
just as they did the DNC when they hacked into the system,
just as they have done with every election their candidate lost
Just like they did at the Nevada convention with the violence and cursing.
Like they do with delegate math on and on... Its just not in the BoB's core to be honest about anything. I cant wait until the 16th
no more of this ridiculous garbage defending every crappy action of Berners and their oh-so-honest desire for civil campaigns.
have a great night
cant wait to see bernie concede in just a few weeks. Its gonna be deeeeelicious!
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)that you cannot understand that this has nothing, nada, to do with either the Bernie Campaign or the HRC campaign. You might want to look into Prop 187 and the protests back then. This has much more in common with that, than either national party.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_187
By the way, the photo I showed you is outside the San Diego Convention Center LAST FUCKING FRIDAY. I was there. I am sure you would not get even close to one of these things, after all you might get hurt. for real. And to be honest. stay away from them.

(11,949 posts)When this video goes viral it will help any democratic candidate? All Americans are repulsed by this kind of behavior. So the guy support Trump. That is his right.
And the guy hit with an object then ran like a coward. I hate Trump. But I would have loved to see the peaceful guy run him down and pound his ass into the ground. Because that is illegal behavior. And you know as well as I do that the coward is a Bernie supporter. Unless he thinks Bernie is to much of a right wing candidate. Which would not surprise me here lately.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)just like I recorded the event in San Diego last Friday
How do you control fear? Much of this is driven by absolute fear of what Trump will do the Mexican American (try to think Jewish 1932), community.
And if you think that is a Bernie supporter, I do have a bridge here in San Diego. Light use, fully paid off. Unlike you, I am not a key board commando and I have been in the streets many a times when things get sketchy.
Let me show you some photos from San Diego,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7876758
There is one Bernie sign, would you like to join me so you can go over 1500 photos? That is roughly what we shot. I admit a few are crap. Your hyper partisanship is not going to help.
Oh and here is the context for those photos, and even more photos
https://reportingsandiego.com/2016/05/28/thousands-protest-at-the-trump-rally-in-san-diego/

(1,258 posts)and Trump supporters are the victims. It's one thing for people to quietly protest but this is getting into crowd mentality and that's dangerous. Can't trust a mob of people.
Organizers should be rallying AWAY from trump speech areas. Clashes make Trump and his supporters sympathetic figures. How can you not feel badly for the girl with egg on her face or the man tripped or the man with blood dripping down his face? Violence in protest is wrong. All the leaders should be condemning it.

(154,021 posts)but this has nothing, like nada, to do wth liberals and conservatives and the fights in middle class neighborhoods. This has a lot more to do with the civil rights of Mexican Americans who feel under threat. The same happened with prop 187.Seriously.
The people who live in the barrio see Trump the same way they saw Governor Davis in California Not just a personal threat, but literally a rolll back of the few civil rights gains people have made.
Yeah, yeah, I had that epiphany last Friday as I saw colectivo after colectivo marching in.

(23,334 posts)I'm not advocating for violence against Trump supporters. I do not think that violence against Trump supporters or Trump supporters having a sense of being intimidated will be at all helpful to Trump's chances. Rather, it will de-normalize Trump and potentially make his principal opponent seem safe by comparison. That's my opinion.
BlueNoMatterWho
(880 posts)But I'm concerned some in the middle may take exception to the American flag burned by young men waving Mexican flags.
David__77
(23,334 posts)First of all, during this upcoming campaign season, I do not think that the people who may burn US flags are likely to be supporters of the Democratic presidential candidate. And I think that the people who identify as in the middle politically get that that's the case. There are a lot of political orientations in play and only some of them are really well aligned with either of the two parties, in my opinion.

(1,057 posts)I think your belief that violence directed against Trump supporters will not help him is delusional. Middle America views this kind of behavior as being reminiscent of the Brown Shirts attacking those who opposed National Socialism and are repelled by it. Couple that with an undercurrent of xenophobia which is rising in this country and I will guarantee you that videos of mobs of young Latino males waving Mexican flags, assaulting Trump supporters and burning American flags will boost support for Trump in many of the key Midwestern, blue collar, swing states such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin this fall. These types of images are a PR disaster for Democratic candidates in the upcoming election.
