WASHINGTON — Don’t expect to hear many policy disagreements Friday in Sioux City when U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, debates his GOP primary challenger, State Sen. Rick Bertrand.

This race is more a clash of personalities than positions.

King, 67, says he’s proven his conservative credentials during seven terms representing northwest Iowa, while accumulating political influence.

Bertrand, 46, questions King’s effectiveness in office and says Iowa voters are looking for a new approach.
