(CNN) — A top adviser to Donald Trump believes there's nothing anyone can do to get Hillary Clinton to tell the truth about her emails. Not even torture.

Barry Bennett, a senior adviser to Trump's campaign, alleged Friday on CNN that Clinton has repeatedly lied about her email use during her time as secretary of state.

"She has continued to lie about it. She told us the lawyers signed off on it. The inspector general said that's not true," Bennett said. "She said she would cooperate with all the investigations -- she stonewalled the IG and now everybody is taking the Fifth."

He added: "You couldn't get the truth out of Hillary if you waterboarded her."

4. For one who has had a long standing issue with Hillary's lack of integrity,

and that's my #1 reason for having trouble supporting her, I thought it was a pretty good and deserved line.

I do realize that it's futile to expect she'll ever start to reliably tell the truth because she never has - which isn't a knock at this point - I've kind of given up. It just saddens me to a point of dizzying bewilderment that I have to accept that over a whack-job like Trump for the Oval Office. But that seems to be what we're going to be faced with in November unless something (I have no idea what) intervenes.
