If I didn't actually know better, I'd think he'd never travelled outside of the United States. Certainly, whatever foreign travel he's done has not let him to any sort of understanding of other cultures.
Relevant story here: In the 1970's I was an airline employee, and we got essentially free travel and could go anywhere in the world quite easily back then, mainly because flights were rarely, if ever, full, unlike recent years. Anyway, I knew more than one fellow airline person who went somewhere, usually England, maybe Spain -- we are definitely not talking exotic locales whatsoever -- and upon return complained about everything they experienced there because it wasn't exactly like the United States. I always thought, How sad! Anyone who can't travel abroad and appreciate that other places are different, is missing out on so much.
And that's the essential problem with Donald Trump. He lives in a very sheltered place, protected from anything by his great wealth, and like so many rich people doesn't understand what life is actually like for others. In his case, his wealth and public persona have allowed him to be the obnoxious asshole that he is. Don't why why so many people seem to like an obnoxious asshole, or why they'd think he'd make a good president, but they do.
