A St. Louis Cardinal, no less!

Cardinal Raymond Burkes comments come during Pope Francis Synod of the Family in Rome, in which senior catholic figures have gathered from around the world to discuss family issues, including same-sex marriage....
Now, Burke the former Archbishop of St Louis who now has the title of Cardinal Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura has indicated that he feels children should be kept away from gay couples.
Playing the role of ecclesiastical agony uncle, Burke was asked by the website LifeSiteNews, How should Catholic parents deal with a difficult situation like this? When planning a Christmas family gathering with grandchildren present, parents are asked by their son, who is in a homosexual relationship, if he can come and bring home with him his homosexual partner.

(12,157 posts)He was removed from that position by Pope Francis in 2014. The Pope diplomatic refrains from saying it was because of Burke's outspoken disagreements with the direction Francis is taking the Church. In any case Burke holds a ceremonial role that has no power, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. He may be in danger of losing even that with his rabid mouth.

On November 8, 2014, Burke was removed as prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the final court of appeal for any ecclesiastical judgement.[44][45] Burke was replaced at the Apostolic Signatura by Dominique Mamberti and was then appointed Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which is largely a ceremonial post usually given to a retired cardinal or as a secondary job to an active one.[46]
This demotion was said to be related to his criticism of the Pope's leadership and proposals for reform. Notably, Burke said about the church under Pope Francis, "There is a strong sense that the church is like a ship without a rudder."[47][48][49][50] Sources differ whether the move will likely strengthen or weaken Francis
I see this story was October 2014. That was before he got fired. Maybe this was the final straw. Why post an old story without clarification?
