Morning Joe is NOT Trump's Friend this morning!

Mika and Joe started out by criticizing Ryan and McTurtle for endorsing Trump. Mika says these guys thought they could get something in return from Trump but Mika says they will get nothing in return and never will.
They mocked Ryan for him saying Trump's statements came out of left field and surprised him. NO they didn't, you knew who he was all along. If you have a spine and can look in the mirror, TAKE BACK YOUR ENDORSEMENT!
It's pretty entertaining TV this morning!

This is their figuratively shouting out the "N" word by choosing Trump. That's funny.

There were some other Republican talking heads who were on about "he ought to cut that out", as if this is some sort of one-off aberration.

It's WHO HE IS.

He's not going to change his personality, and no one is going to get him to change his personality. It would take years of therapy and a motivation on his part to want to change. He thinks he's great, and nothing is going to change that.

First with Bill Clinton and now for 7½ with Obama, they had to keep on "going there" instead of fighting Democratic ideas and governance on rational grounds. They're paying the price of having intentionally dumbed down the conversation for a quarter century. The Conservatives in the same time span have dominated in Britain without dumbing down. How? They're rational and concede to most liberal concepts like equal rights, social welfare, and business regulation. They don't talk about getting rid of these government priorities, only about not being so aggressive. To them, conservative means conserving the quality of life of the average working class family. They haven't cultivated an ethic of screw-the-poor that permeates Republican thinking.

I have no use for Joe or Mika. If they are criticizing Trump, it is only their way of communicating to Trump that he is sounding like he's mentally ill and that he is jeopardizing his campaign.

I suspect that if pressed both Joe and Mika will deny that Trump is a real racist. They are much more likely to believe that he has just departed from his best path because he lacks experience and good advice.

I think the reality is that Trump is a racist because he has been learning that racism sells. If Joe and Mika can convince him that racism will not sell in a general election, Trump will probably try to change his tune. But, he knows the difficulty - how can navigate a clear change of tune on race and ethnicity without alarming his racist base? He's got a real problem.
