https://mediamatters.org/video/2016/06/06/bill-oreilly-judge-trump-university-should-recuse-himself-case/210758Because of that, Mr. Trump apparently believes the judge may be biased against him, as it is well-known the candidate has taken a strong stand against illegal immigration, include building a border wall.
Summing up, the Trump U. case is certainly political to some extent, and it's a very high profile situation. Because of that, Talking Points believes the judge should recuse himself. Not because he did anything wrong, he didn't, but to eliminate any doubt as to the motivation in court rulings.

You see? Mr Trump brought up baseless charges that judge curiel is biased against him. That's why the case is suddenly political.
And to remove any doubts that this is a political trial, the judge who has done nothing wrong so far should recuse himself proactively.

He's soooo passé and deserves the same amount of attention that Bristol Palin does: Zero.

On edit:
Any judge who would be next in line to do the job will not have a sense of humor toward Trump. Judges don't play that way. Trump was handled more than fairly, but from now on it won't be so.
