Today, our phone has been ringing off the hook.

I look over at the caller ID and of course it's not someone I know.

I KNOW it's about the election.

I want to yell into it "We voted already! Go away and leave us alone!"

But then I'd have to answer it.

And I refuse to answer.

Bastards.

you might miss this opportunity!! But gratefully it will all be over by tomorrow and those calls will slow to a trickle. Pollsters will start up with a vengeance...or at least they do in my neck of the woods.

It is very annoying.

This is why I will not phone bank. It's an intrusion and I cannot do it.

No, I don't want to hear your spiel or receive a free pencil!

I whisk by with a smile and a no-thank-you.

(I could never phone bank, either)

In fact, I have never seen any polling place where that was going on. It borders on electioneering.

When I see a number I don't recognize I do a quick Google search of the number. ~15 calls today-everyone a telemarketing scam.

I ended my day in horror as I watch my remote security cameras and saw 5 cops enter my restaurant with their guns drawn. One of my employees didn't lock the door when they closed up and it set off the burglar alarms.

I'm going to sleep now.

a few general elections ago. As had become usual, instead of being put on areas that didn't get many calls (a lot more likely to be appreciated by the callees, of course), I was hitting people in Ohio who'd been inundated for weeks, and now all day long.

I've been phone banking for Bernie Sanders all this time. It's true, some people are truly put off by it, and I know this within 2 seconds (if they don't just hang up immediately...)

More likely, when they hear me tell them that I'm a volunteer for Bernie, they will verbally cue me that I can go ahead. And, when I do, I remain very positive, respectful, and thank them... always thank them for your time. I believe if you're going to phone bank, you should be concise, to the point, and very pleasant. I am thanked most every time unless there is a language barrier.

It might have been me calling if yesterday. I helped some people know which place to vote. I know that these folks should know, but for various reasons (mostly, as many were new voters), they thanked me for that.

I'm doing the best I can while writing all the letters to my state's Super-delegates. I feel that if I'm gonna do something, I'll do it the best way and can, and I'll always be nice.

I have found that if I answer and tell them I already voted I don't receive any more calls.

Apparently, once they've entered your "already voted" status, your name falls off the call list.

Of course, it depends on how often their database polls and updates but it's usually a good bet that it will update and they will no longer spend time calling people who have "already voted" and they will concentrate on those whose status is not updated and may need to be reminded to vote.

YMMV.
