At least twice in the last few years. Either they didn't find anything actionable or they left him alone hoping he'd lead them to other threats.

than to justify what he was about to do.

Nothing is indicative of him being a part of the group. People that knew him has stated he was violent, not religious and hated gays.

That is the narrative that the media has been going with early on. Personally, I don't really care much about why at this point but more the fact that he did it and he had free access to the means to do it. Whether he did it because of his belief in Islamic tenets or belief in Christian or any other religious tenet is meaningless to me. The most important thing for the media is to blame and point fingers some where else as long as it is not at our own door step.
