Holy shit! Maybe Republicans are finally getting a clue!
A Republican friend sent me this, which she said came from facebook ....
I feel the need to drop a little truth on y'all. So buckle up...I'm about to be politically incorrect.
We don't need to take America back. No one stole it. It's right here...you're sitting in it. Chillax. Mexico isn't going to pay for the wall and we're not going to deport millions of people and break up families. If you think either one is a good idea, you're not smart and probably not a person I want to hang out with. We don't live in a democracy. Technically we are a Federal Republic. But in reality we are ruled by an oligarchy. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Reading will do you good. You probably need to do more of it. FoxNews, CNN, and MSNBC have an agenda and are not "fair and balanced" or in any way unbiased. I'll reiterate...read more. Read newspapers (even online ones). Read lots of opinions and sources and then (stay with me here), THINK! Form your own opinion based on as many facts as your can brain can tolerate. Speaking of facts...there actually is a difference between facts, opinions, and propaganda. You should learn the difference. (Another opportunity to show off your mad reading skills.) Science is real. We know things because of science. Don't be afraid of it. You have an iPhone and Facebook because of science. It's your friend. Global warming or "climate change" as the cool kids call it IS REAL. Anyone who tells you it's not real is not a smart person and probably should not be dressing themselves or caring for children. Racism exists. And you are probably a little racist and should work on that. Seriously. American Christians are not under attack. We are not being persecuted. We wield so much power in this country that politicians pretend to be Christian just so we will vote for them. No one is trying to take your bible away from you. The gay people are not destroying our families—we don't need any help from them, thank you. We do a fine job of that by ourselves. So stop saying we are persecuted. You sound stupid. Poor people need help. If you're not helping them but complaining about how the government helps them with your money you are not a nice person. Be nice to the people who teach your children. Don't send them nasty emails or yell at them. Their job is 10,000 times harder than your stupid job. You are not a professional educator so just shut your mouth and be thankful someone is willing to teach your offspring. You don't know what Common Core is. You think you do, but you don't unless you're a teacher. So stop complaining about math problem memes on Facebook. You can't do the math anyway. ISIS is not an existential threat to the United States. We do not need to rebuild our military. Our military is the strongest, scariest, most badass killing machine the world has ever seen. So stop being afraid and stop letting politicians and pundits scare you. Guns do in fact kill people. That's what they are designed to do. If you feel you need a gun to protect yourself in America, you are probably living in the wrong neighborhood and should move before you go out and buy a gun. There are like a billion places to live where you won't need a gun, or even need to lock your front door. If you do own a gun, then make sure you know how to use it really, really, really well. Seriously...get some training because you still don't know how to record stuff with your DVR. Go to the gun range and shoot the thing a lot. Learn how to clean it properly and be able to disassemble it and reassemble it with your eyes closed. It's a freaking gun and it deserves that level of care, proficiency and respect. And for God's sake, keep it locked up and away from your kids. If you are even a little bit crazy, sad, or pissed off...you shouldn't have a gun. And the Founding Fathers would totally agree with me. Stop being suspicious of American Muslims. I guarantee the guy sitting next to you in the cubicle at work is probably more of a threat to you than any Muslim. He has to listen to your uninformed ranting day after day and has probably already imagined very colorful and creative ways to end you. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and all the rest are ENTERTAINERS! Stop getting your opinions from them. (Here's where that reading thing can really be an advantage.) Stop sharing Facebook memes that tell me to share or else Jesus won't bless me with a laundry basket full of cash. That's not how prayer works. And I don't want money delivered (even from God) in a laundry basket. Nobody ever washes those things out and they just keep putting nasty dirty clothes in them. Yuck! We are the United States of America and we can afford to house every homeless veteran, feed every child, and take in every refugee and still have money left over for Starbucks and a bucket of KFC. Unless you can trace your family line back to someone who made deerskin pants look stylish and could field dress a buffalo, you are a descendent of an immigrant. Please stop saying that immigrants are ruining our country. Such comments are like a giant verbal burrito stuffed with historical ignorance, latent racism, and xenophobia all wrapped in a fascist tortilla. That's all for now. I feel better.

the Party moved away from them, and went right wing nutz.
Do not forget that Abe Lincoln was a republican. Chuck Percy, and a whole slew of moderate thinking, pragmatic, and effective supporters of equal rights, EPA, social justice and economic fairness came out of that party. But that party no longer exists. It is now the party of Ted Cruz, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and their ilk. For them, the mere act of "thinking" and of seeking compromise and solutions are so hard, that they prefer to do the opposite. |

68. And worth remembering that the 1864 Repubs (renamed) nominated John C. Fremont.
Lincoln was the leader of the country in the middle of a Civil War, but party hardliners dumped him. Lincoln ran as the nominee of the National Union Party, which was formed from a coalition of Repubs and Democrats, and Fremont withdrew. So much for that "supporting our President during wartime" meme today's Repugs love so much.

Some Republicans may have retained their sanity or have become wise, BUT they are outnumbered by the Republicans' lunatic factions or lack control of the Republican Party's political machinery.
I left any affiliations with the Republican Party behind decades ago before the hard right finished cementing its control over the Texas GOP because I don't like where the Texas Republican Party was going. I felt that if I stayed in the Texas Republican Party, the most I could aspire to would be as a "useful idiot" for the Radical Right's reactionary counter-revolution. Perhaps your Facebook friend is realizing this only now. Or perhaps she'll allow herself to be scammed again. |

59. Much of her social and business networks rotate around the Republican Party. She's a lifer ...
... regardless of the current faces and policies the party puts out front.

...can change her party from the inside, just as Bernie is trying to do with the Democratic Party.

41. Fer cryin out loud.
Who cares whether the writer is a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or Pastafarian?
It is a great rant and sums up nicely what is wrong with the Republican Party today. And no, the Republican Party of today is not the Party of Lincoln. That all changed for good when LBJ pushed through the Civil Rights Act and swung the 'solid South' from (D) to (R) and the (R)'s said 'Thank You Very Much' and went bat-shit crazy wooing the Right-Wing lunatic fringe. |

44. Republicans Getting a Clue
Won't happen. Tomorrow, some manufactured outrage will take place, or Drumpf will say something or not, or some other shiny thing will take place and Republicans will conveniently forget all of this.

Eisenhower would be a communist to the current whack jobs that claim to be Republicans, if he were running for office now.

Reagan was the great transformer. Pulled everything way right. |

52. Utah and Kansas
There is current polling data showing Clinton tied with Trump in Utah and leading Trump in Kansas.
Those are two of the most reliably Republican states in the Union. In 2012 Barack Obama only got 25% of the vote in Utah and 38% in Kansas. |

64. I Checked The Links... Loved The Rant AND YES, Hillary IS
much closer to a Republican before they went WHACK JOB. Non-the-less, I DO actually know some Repubs "personally" who think Hillary is probably even MORE of a war hawk.
I happen to live in a VERY RED county and there's no way you can simply NOT be friends with R's. They KNOW I'm left of the CURRENT Democratic Party but we agree on many things. While most don't LIKE OR TRUST Hillary they do see her as "less of a Democrat" than most Democrats they know. WE HAVE HAD "the discussion" about what's happened to their Party, but they've turned the question back on me. My consensus is that BOTH the Repubs AND Dems ARE NOT what they once were. Repubs went very, very far right, Democrats in their opinion are much more right leaning. They have actually voted for some of the DLC/Third Way types. Of course, we DO differ the it comes to Bernie, but they DON'T dislike him and think his views would be very helpful for millions of people. NOBODY here has to believe me, don't care if you do... but just wanted to share this information. Some of the Repubs will be switching to Independents and this is another topic that's generated a LOT OF DISCUSSION. I'm WITH THEM. So, maybe after 2016... we'll be parr of the SAME party! Dems and Repubs SHOULD take a very close look... BOTH THE apparent nominees simply are VERY MUCH DISLIKED! It IS What IT IS! They DO jab me with who DWS is and why we've put up with her and I on the other hand talk about Reince Preibus! Some things stay the same. Of course, Hillary supporters here simply are UNABLE to see or accept this point of view. If those of us here could convince some here of just ONE topic it would be GREAT! One of the biggest is how MUCH OF A WAR HAWK she is!! These friends of mine and I DO AGREE on this issue and are sick of how much damage we've done in the Middle East! Hillary simply means WAR remains a fear we have about her! But, to those of you who ignore this... Please PROCEED! |

65. Reminds me of seeing Susan Collins on tv the other day saying something to the affect of:
Yes, Hillary is a brilliant, honest and hard working woman who I in fact had the great pleasure of working with and is very capable of leading the country. Trump is an idiot blowhard. But I feel compelled to vote for him because he is the "Republican"
This alone should disqualify her from holding any office. She's too fucking stupid. |

Well, I'm sure he'd have said it better, but it
would have been nice if he remembered the repukes are set on destroying us, too. I so wish the war on women didn't always fall off the list. |

72. Some of the comments at the original blog are hysterical
https://lamontemfowler.com/2016/02/22/dropping-some-truth/
There's a poster who has a problem with Newton's first law of motion (an object in motion tends to remain in motion, etc. etc.) because, as they put it "do you ever see this in real life?". i tried to explain in a reply post that this refers to a theoretical object that is in motion in a vacuum, unaffected by the pull of gravitational forces or the friction created by drag, but I couldn't get my reply to "post", so I gave up. Another poster had already tried to explain the concept of "unless acted on by an outside force...", but the original poster just doubled down with "when would that ever happen in the REAL world; isn't gravity everywhere?", so I figured I was probably wasting my time anyway. <on edit> The poster made their observations in regards to this part of the rant: "Science is real. We know things because of science. Don't be afraid of it. You have an iPhone and Facebook because of science. It's your friend. " <on edit> what made the comment extra hysterical is that the poster was very proud of themselves for pointing out why Newton was wrong. They have probably been working on this refutation of Newtons law since high school... |
