http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/ban-assault-weapons-now-4?source=homepageWhat do these horrific shootings have in common? The AR-15.
This assault weapon was used to murder at least 50 people in Orlando, 26 people in Sandy Hook, 12 people in Aurora, and 14 people in San Bernardino.
Right now, such a mass-killing weapon is available for purchase on-line, at trade shows, and at gun brokers across our nation. It has become the weapon of choice for mass shooters.
The AR-15 and all assault weapons like it have no place in our cities and towns. No place on our streets.
We need to ban all assault weapons now, while moving quickly to enact commonsense gun reform.

(12,778 posts)The President can't just ban weapons he doesn't like, but if it makes you feel better to click on this petition, go for it. Be prepared to get about a dozen junk e-mails a day for your efforts.

(34,845 posts)Junk email is hardly my concern. And it doesn't matter if this specific petition directly relates to a law. Contributing to the outcry can be used to move legislation in the direction it needs to go.

(12,778 posts)I got a shitload of junk mail. If moveon is better about it, then I apologize. No need to get your knickers in a twist.

(3,569 posts)Aren't we, or shouldn't we be, better than that? Been a member of Move on, sign every, or most, petitions and take part in every survey and don't get spammed. They do send me e-mail but hardly spammed me.
Really the world is hard enough without people agendizing.
