"So far we believe that an altercation occurred between the occupants of the car that contained the stabbing victim and unknown persons in the area of Madison and 2nd streets," he said. "This is believed to have happened around 9:30- 10 p.m. last night. The driver of the car then attempted to bring the stabbed passenger to a local hospital and was involved in a car crash at Hoosick street and 5th Avenue."
An autopsy will determine whether the victim died from the stab wounds or from the car crash, DeWolf said.DeWolf confirmed Hight is the same man who was arrested in 2015 after police said he attacked his girlfriend and then held their two children hostage inside an apartment across from the Amtrak train station.
Hight had an argument with his girlfriend that got physical, snatched her purse and money and barricaded himself inside 718 East St., where he refused to come out until a SWAT team arrived.DeWolf also confirmed Hight had been charged in 2013 with second and third-degree assault, trespassing, second-degree obstruction of government administration, and resisting arrest after an incident at his home.
